Dario Marianelli has been tapped to score the upcoming family movie sequel Paddington 2. The film is directed by Paul King who previously helmed the 2014 original movie and stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Jim Broadbent, Peter Capaldi, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin and Imelda Staunton, as well as Ben Whishaw as the voice of the title character. They are joined by new cast members Hugh Grant and Brendan Gleeson. The movie finds Paddington happily settled with the Brown family in Windsor Gardens. While searching for the perfect present for his aunt’s hundredth birthday, Paddington embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique shop.

Abel Korzeniowski to Score ‘The Conjuring’ Spinoff ‘The Nun’
Abel Korzeniowski has been hired to score the upcoming horror thriller The Nun. The film is directed by Corin Hardy (The Hallow) and stars Taissa Farmiga, Demián Bichir, Charlotte Hope, Bonnie Aarons, Jonas Bloquet and Ingrid Bisu. The movie is a spinoff of New Line Cinema’s hit franchise The Conjuring and follows a priest who is sent to Rome to investigate the mysterious death of a nun. Gary Dauberman (It, Annabelle) wrote the screenplay. James Wan (Furious 7, Insidious, Saw) and Peter Safran (The Conjuring, Buried) are producing the New Line production.
Mr. Bill Scoring Brian Taylor’s ‘Mom and Dad’
Australian DJ and music producer Mr. Bill (aka Bill James Day) has composed the original score for the upcoming horror comedy Mom and Dad. The film is written and directed by Brian Taylor (Crank, Gamer, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) and stars Nicolas Cage, Selma Blair, Anne Winters, Zackary Arthur and Lance Henriksen. The movie follows a teenage girl and her younger brother who must survive a 24-hour mass hysteria of unknown origins, which causes parents to turn violently on their own offspring. Taylor is also producing the project with Chris Lemole & Tim Zajaros (Mudbound, Cabin Fever, Zombeavers).
Dickon Hinchliffe Scoring ‘Burden’
Dickon Hinchliffe has been tapped to score the upcoming indie drama Burden. The film is written and directed by Andrew Heckler and stars Garrett Hedlund, Andrea Riseborough, Forest Whitaker, Tom Wilkinson, Tess Harper and Usher. The movie tells the story of an orphan raised within the Ku Klux Klan who attempts to break away after the girl he falls in love with urges him to leave for a better life together. Robbie Brenner (Dallas Buyers Club, Escape Plan, Machine Gun Preacher, A Perfect Getaway) is producing the project for The Firm. Jeff Kwatinetz, Gabby Revilla and Kevin McKeon serve as executive producers.
Gustavo Santaolalla Scoring ‘Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars’
Gustavo Santaolalla has composed the original score for the upcoming documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars. The film is directed by Lili Fini Zanuck (Rush, producer of Driving Miss Daisy and Cocoon) and traces the guitar virtuoso’s career through The Yardbirds, Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, and his solo years, telling the stories behind hits like For Your Love, Layla, and Tears in Heaven. The movie features extensive archival performances and home movies, which are accompanied by audio interviews with Clapton and people who played central roles in his life, including his grandmother Rose Clapp, George Harrison, Steve Winwood, Ahmet Ertegun and his former wife, Pattie Boyd.
Dominic Lewis to Score Will Gluck’s ‘Peter Rabbit’
Dominic Lewis has signed on to score the upcoming family comedy Peter Rabbit. The film directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Annie, Friends with Benefits) stars Domhnall Gleeson, Rose Byrne and Sam Neill, and features the voices of James Corden as the title character, Margot Robbie, Daisy Ridley and Elizabeth Debicki. The live-action/animated hybrid is based on Beatrix Potter’s classic stories of a rebellious rabbit trying to sneak into a farmer’s vegetable garden. Gluck also co-wrote the screenplay with Rob Lieber (Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day) and is producing the project with Zareh Nalbandian.

The movie doesn’t feature an original score in the traditional sense as was originally reported and marks the Aronofksy’s first feature without a full score. mother! is written and directed by Aronofsky and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Ed Harris, Michelle Pfeiffer, Brian Gleeson, Domhnall Gleeson, Stephen McHattie and Kristen Wiig. The psychological thriller focuses on a couple’s relationship, which is tested when uninvited guests arrive at their home, disrupting their tranquil existence.

Rory Friers and Niall Kennedy of the Irish rock band And So I Watch You From Afar have recently composed the music for the upcoming horror thriller The Cured. The film is written and directed by David Freyne and stars Ellen Page, Sam Keeley and Tom Vaughan-Lawlor. The movie centers on the fraught process of reintegrating formerly infected flesh-eaters into society in the aftermath of a zombie plague. Page is also producing the Tilted Pictures production with Rachael O’Kane and Rory Dungan.
Julian Wass Scoring ‘Creep 2’
Julian Wass has been tapped to score the upcoming horror sequel Creep 2. The film is directed by Patrick Brice who previously helmed the 2014 original movie and stars Mark Duplass, Desiree Akhavan and Karan Soni. The movie follows a video artist who, after finding an ad online for “video work”, drives to a remote house in the forest and meets a man claiming to be a serial killer. Brice also co-wrote the screenplay with Duplass. Carolyn Craddock is producing the project. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Split, Get Out), Duplass and Mel Eslyn (Blue Jay) are among the executive producers.

This past week, Christopher Lennertz has recorded his score for the upcoming musical comedy Pitch Perfect 3. The film is directed by Trish Sie (Step Up All In) and stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Hailee Steinfeld, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Chrissie Fit, Kelley Jakle, Shelley Regner, Ruby Rose, John Lithgow, John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks. The movie follows the Bellas as they find themselves split apart and discovering there aren’t job prospects for making music with your mouth when they get the chance to reunite for an overseas USO tour.
