Dan Deacon has signed on to score the upcoming Netflix original film Hustle. The movie is directed by Jeremiah Zagar (We the Animals) and stars Adam Sandler, Queen Latifah, Ben Foster and Robert Duvall, as well as NBA analyst Kenny Smith, and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Juancho Hernangomez. The sports comedy drama follows a down on his luck basketball scout who discovers discovers a phenomenal street ball player with a rocky past while in China and sees the prospect as his opportunity to get back into the NBA. Taylor Materne and Will Fetters (A Star Is Born, Remember Me) wrote the screenplay.

Finneas to Make Film Scoring Debut on Megan Park’s ‘The Fallout’
Variety is reporting that singer/songwriter and record producer Finneas will be making his film scoring debut on the upcoming drama The Fallout. The film is written and directed by actress Megan Park and stars Jenna Ortega, Maddie Ziegler, Shailene Woodley, Niles Fitch, Julie Bowen, John Ortiz and Will Ropp. The movie centers on a high schooler Vada who navigates the emotional fallout she experiences in the wake of a school tragedy. David Brown is producing the project for Clear Horizon, alongside Shaun Sanghani (King Cobra, Infamous) for SSS Entertainment, Rebecca Miller & Cara Shine for Good Pals, as well as Todd Lundbohm, Joannie Burstein and Giulia Prenna (Office Uprising).

The film is directed by Anthony Furlong and stars Charlotte Best, Jonny Pasvolsky, Alex Menglet, Susan Prior, Justin Stewart Cotta and Tahlia Sturzaker. The movie centers on a woman who gets kidnapped and held hostage in a high-speed elevator in a 120-floor building in Shanghai, where she begins to realize she has incredible powers within, kept secret to protect her and her family.
Henry Jackman Scoring Locksmith Animation’s ‘Ron’s Gone Wrong’
Henry Jackman (Captain America: The Winter Soldier & Civil War, Wreck-It-Ralph, X-Men: First Class, Big Hero 6, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) has recently recorded his score for the upcoming animated feature Ron’s Gone Wrong. The film co-directed by J.P. Vine & Octavio E. Rodriguez is set in a world where walking, talking, digitally connected bots have become children’s best friends and tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who finds that his robot buddy doesn’t quite work. Sarah Smith (Arthur Christmas) co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Baynham (Hotel Transylvania) and is also producing the Locksmith Animation production with Julie Lockhart (Shaun the Sheep Movie, The Pirates! Band of Misfits).
Shigeru Umebayashi Scoring Li Weiran’s ‘The Yin Yang Master’
Shigeru Umebayashi (In the Mood for Love, House of Flying Daggers, The Grandmaster, 2046, Curse of the Golden Flowers) has composed the original music for the new Chinese fantasy drama The Yin Yang Master. The film is directed by Li Weiran and stars Chen Kun, Zhou Xun and William Chan. The movie based on the popular mobile game Onmyōji is set in a world that is on the verge of a devastating war with the monsters who are coming back to retrieve the Scaling Stone and follows the titular Yin Yang Master as he travels to different worlds to prepare for the upcoming assaults.
John Debney Scoring Kat Coiro’s ‘Marry Me’
John Debney has composed the original score for the upcoming romantic comedy Marry Me. The film is directed by Kat Coiro (And While We Were Here, Life Happens) and stars Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson, Maluma, John Bradley, Chloe Coleman and Sarah Silverman. The movie centers on the relationship between a musical superstar and a math teacher – two total strangers who agree to marry and then get to know each other. John Rogers (The Librarians, Leverage), Tami Sagher and Harper Dill wrote the screenplay based on the graphic novel by Bobby Crosby.
Volker Bertelmann to Score Dev Patel’s ‘Monkey Man’
Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) (The Old Guard, Ammonite, Adrift, The Art of Racing in the Rain, Patrick Melrose) has been hired to score the upcoming thriller Monkey Man. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Dev Patel who also stars in the movie, which is set in modern day India and follows a recently-released ex-felon who struggles to adjust to a world of corporate greed and eroding spiritual values. Patel also co-wrote the screenplay with Paul Angunawela and John Collee (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, Happy Feet).
Geoff Zanelli Scoring Deon Taylor’s ‘Don’t Fear’
Composer Geoff Zanelli (Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, Disturbia, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil) is reuniting with director Deon Taylor on the upcoming horror thriller Don’t Fear. The film starring Joseph Sikora, Andrew Bachelor, Anne Ilonzeh, Iddo Goldber, Ruby Modine, Jessica Allain & T.I. takes place a year into living through a worldwide pandemic and follows a group of friends gathered in the remote Tahoe Mountains to stay at the “Historic Strawberry Lodge” who are pushed to the brink of survival as the truth about the historic lodge slowly unravels in front of them. Taylor co-wrote the screenplay with John Ferry and is also producing the Hidden Empire Film Group production with Roxanne Avent Taylor (Supremacy, Meet the Blacks) and Omar Joseph.

Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi has composed the original music for the upcoming action thriller Without Remorse. The film is directed by Stefano Sollima (Sicario: Day of the Soldado) and stars Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, Jodie Turner-Smith, Luke Mitchell, Jacob Scipio, Cam Gigandet, Jack Kesy, Todd Lasance and Brett Gelman. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Tom Clancy and follows U.S. Navy SEAL John Clark as he tries to exact vengeance for his wife’s murder, only to find himself inside a larger conspiracy. Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water, Sicario, Yellowstone) & Will Staples (The Right Stuff) wrote the screenplay.

Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill, Black Beauty, Happy!, The Spy, The Man with the Iron Heart) has been tapped to score the upcoming French period thriller The Colors of Fire (Couleurs de l’incendie). The film is directed by Clovis Cornillac (Belle and Sebastian, Friends for Life) and stars Lea Drucker, Benoit Poelvoorde, Olivier Gourmet, Alice Isaaz, as well as Cornillac himself. The movie based on the best-selling novel by Pierre Lemaitre is set in Paris in the 1920s and tells the story of a woman who takes revenge after she misses out on inheriting the financial empire of her father after his death.
