Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1970 classic The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes co-written and directed by Billy Wilder and starring Robert Stephens, Geneviève Page, Colin Blakely and Christopher Lee. The 2-CD set features the remastered original score from the MGM production composed and conducted by Miklós Rózsa (Ben-Hur, Spellbound, Quo Vadis, King of Kings, Ivanhoe) and performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra on the first disc, as well as all the source music from the movie (supervised by the composer), the premiere CD edition of the the piece Fantasy that Rózsa recorded for his album Rózsa Conducts Rózsa and a new remastering of the premiere recording of the violin concerto on which parts of the score are based.
