Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the biographical drama Elvis directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Richard Roxburgh, Luke Bracey, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and David Wenham. The film’s original score is composed by Elliott Wheeler (The Get Down, Every Day) who also serves as the project’s executive music producer. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie, including classic tracks by Elvis Presley, as well new tracks by Doja Cat, Swae Lee & Diplo, Eminem & CeeLo Green & others. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the romantic comedy drama Press Play co-written and directed by Greg Björkman and starring Clara Rugaard, Lewis Pullman, Christina Chang, Lyrica Okano, Matt Walsh and Danny Glover. Eldad Guetta (The Wave) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a woman who is given the chance to save her boyfriend after he dies in an accident when she discovers that their mixtape can transport her back in time, is being released by The Avenue.
Already playing at New York’s Paris Theatre since this past Wednesday before premiering on Netflix on July 29 is the drama Beauty directed by Andrew Dosunmu and starring Niecy Nash, Gracie Marie Bradley, Aleyse Shannon, Giancarlo Esposito, Micheal Ward, Kyle Bary, Sharon Stone and Sarah Stavrou. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Abels (Get Out, Us, Allen v. Farrow, Bad Education, Nightbooks, See You Yesterday).
