Premiering tonight is the Showtime docu-series Outcry directed by Pat Kondelis. The show’s original music is composed by Hanan Townshend (Knights of Cup, To the Wonder, Semper Fi, The Vessel). The 5-parter examines the story of high school football star Greg Kelley who was arrested, convicted and jailed for sexual assault of a 4-year-old boy, and his supporters’ quest for truth and justice. Premiering on Wednesday, July 8 is the Australian limited series Stateless created by Cate Blanchett, Elise McCredie & Tony Ayres and starring Blanchett, Yvonne Strahovski, Dominic West and Jai Courtney. Cornel Wilczek (Glitch, These Final Hours, Nowhere Boys) has composed the show’s original music. The drama follows four strangers as they intersect at an Australian immigration detention center. The series premiered earlier this year in Australia on ABC and is making its U.S. debut on Netflix.
Also premiering on Wednesday is the Netflix documentary Mucho Mucho Amor: The Legend of Walter Mercado directed by Cristina Costantini & Kareem Tabsch about Walter Mercado – the iconic, gender non-conforming astrologer – who mesmerized 120 million Latino viewers with his extravagance and positivity before vanishing from the public eye. The film’s original music is composed by Jeff Morrow (Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Science Fair, Ibiza, Trolls Holiday). The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Premiering on Thursday, July 9, is the HBO Max original series Close Enough created by JG Quintel and starring Quintel himself, James Adomian, Danielle Brooks, Jason Mantzoukas, Jessica DiCicco and Gabrielle Walsh. Mark Mothersbaugh (Thor: Ragnarok, The LEGO Movie, 21/22 Jump Street, The Royal Tenenbaums), Albert Fox & John Enroth (Tiger King, Regular Show, The Last Man on Earth) are composing the show’s original music. Also premiering on Thursday is the Netflix original anime series Japan Sinks: 2020 directed by Masaaki Yuasa, written by Toshio Yoshitaka and starring Rena Ueda, Tomo Muranaka, Yuko Sasaki and Masaki Terasoma. The show’s original music is composed by Kensuke Ushio (Devilman Crybaby, A Silent Voice, Space Dandy, Liz and the Blue Bird). Premiering on Friday, July 10, is the Netflix original film The Old Guard directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and stars Charlize Theron, KiKi Layne, Matthias Schoenaerts, Marwan Kenzari, Luca Marinelli and Chiwetel Ejiofor. The film’s original music is composed by Volker Bertelmann (aka Hauschka) & Dustin O’Halloran (Lion, The Art of Racing in the Rain, A Christmas Carol). Also premiering on Friday is the World War II drama Greyhound directed by Aaron Schneider and starring Tom Hanks, Stephen Graham, Rob Morgan and Elisabeth Shue.
