imageHollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy. The album, entitled Awesome Mix Vol. 1, features the songs from the film by artists including Blue Swede, David Bowie, Norman Greenbaum, Raspberries, Jackson 5, The Runaways, Elvin Bishop, Marvin Gaye/Tammi Terrell & more. The soundtrack will be released on July 29, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label will also release 2-CD deluxe edition soundtrack, which features the film’s original score by Tyler Bates. Check back on this page for more details. Guardians of the Galaxy is written and directed by James Gunn and stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Lee Pace, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, John C. Reilly, Glenn Close and Benicio del Toro. The sci-fi action adventure finds space adventurer Peter Quill the object of a bounty hunt after stealing an orb coveted by a treacherous villain.     I don’t think it’s the director’s decision what to put and leave off on the soundtrack album. And they are releasing a score/songs-version anyway, so what’s the problem?
