Julian Wass is scoring the upcoming indie comedy The Pretty One. The film is directed by Jenee LaMarque and stars Zoe Kazan as a young woman who is mistaken for her dead “perfect” identical twin and seizes the chance to masquerade as her sister. Jake Johnson (New Girl) and Ron Livingston are co-starring. The project marks the feature directorial debut of LaMarque who has also written the screenplay. Robin Schorr (Peaceful Warrior) is producing through RCR Pictures and Steven J. Berger is producing for Provenance Pictures. The Pretty One was shot this past summer in Los Angeles and is now in post-production. A release in 2013 is expected.
Wass whose previous film scoring credits include this year’s Hit & Run starring Dax Shepard & Kristen Bell and the Duplass Brothers’ The Do-Deca-Pentathlon also has the dark comedy Teddy Bears coming up. The film is directed by Thomas Beatty & Rebecca Fishman and stars David Krumholtz, Melanie Lynskey, Jason Ritter, Gillian Jacobs, Zachary Knighton, Ahna O’Reilly and Ned Beatty. The movie follows three couples who head to the desert to help a friend heal after the death of his mother. Thomas Beatty has also written the screenplay and is producing the film with Jennifer Nestin through her Covert Productions company. Teddy Bears is also expected to be released in 2013.
