Dara Taylor (Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar, The Tender Bar, Strays, The Invitation, Echo Boomers, Meet Me Next Christmas) has provided the original score for the upcoming Netflix original film Straw. The movie is written and directed by Tyler Perry and stars Taraji P. Henson, Sherri Shepherd, Teyana Taylor, Glynn Turman, Rockmond Dunbar, Sinbad, Ashley Versher and Mike Merrill. The thriller follows a single mother as she watches her desperate day spiral into chaos, becoming the prime suspect in a crime she never meant to commit and is pushed into a shocking act of desperation. Perry is also producing the project with Tony L. Strickland (The Six Triple Eight) and Angi Bones (Tyler Perry’s Duplicity & Divorce in the Black). Taylor has previously provided additional music to a couple of Perry’s features scored by Philip White, Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, Nobody’s Fool & A Madea Family Funeral and served as the score producer on Tyler Perry’s Acrimony (scored by Christopher Lennertz). Straw will premiere on June 6 exclusively on Netflix.
As previously reported, Taylor also has Marvel Television’s Disney+ series Ironheart (to premiere on June 24) coming up.
