David Schwartz has signed on to score the NBC drama The Playboy Club. The show is set against the background of the political and moral changes in the 1960s and follows the legendary Playboy Club in Chicago. Eddie Cibrian stars as a Chicago attorney who is also a keyholder at the glamorous club. The series is created by Chad Hodge (Tru Calling, Runaway) and Amber Heard, Leah Renee, Jenna Dewan, Laura Benanti, David Krumholtz, Naturi Naughton and Wes Ramsey are co-starring. Alan Taylor (The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Sopranos) has directed the pilot. Brian Grazer is among the show’s producers through his Imagine Television company (24, Friday Night Lights, Parenthood). Schwartz is best known for his music for the critically acclaimed comedy show Arrested Development and for his main theme for the HBO drama Deadwood, for which he has received an Emmy nomination. He also scored such shows as Northern Exposure, Reaper and Wolf Lake. The Playboy Club is set to premiere this fall on NBC and will be airing every Monday night. Schwartz is also writing music for the upcoming MTV comedy show The Inbetweeners. The show is an adaptation of the British sitcom with the same title. The series follows the misadventures of four high-school boys as they navigate the humiliating transition into adulthood. Brad Copeland (Wild Hogs, Yogi Bear) is adapting the show for American audiences. The writer/producer previously worked with the composer on Arrested Development. The Inbetweeners stars Joey Pollari, Bubba Lewis, Zack Pearlman and Mark L. Young. Taika Waititi (The Flight of the Concords) directed the pilot. No release date has been set yet for the show’s first season of 12 episodes.
