A soundtrack album has been released for the docu-series Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey. Alan Silvestri to Score ‘Cosmos – A Spacetime Odyssey’
Seth MacFarlane has announced on Twitter that Alan Silvestri is scoring the upcoming docu-series Cosmos – A Spacetime Odyssey. The show is a successor to the 1980 Emmy and Peabody Award-winning original series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage and will explore how we discovered the laws of nature and found our coordinates in space and time. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson will host the 13-part series, which invents new modes of scientific storytelling to reveal the grandeur of the universe and re-invent celebrated elements of the original series, including the Cosmic Calendar and the Ship of the Imagination, MacFarlane is executive producing the Cosmos Studios and Fuzzy Door production with Ann Druyan, Mitchell Cannold and Brannon Braga (Star Trek, 24).

Joel McNeely has been tapped to score the upcoming western comedy A Million Ways to Die in the West. The film is directed by Seth MacFarlane who also stars in the film alongside Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Liam Neeson, Sarah Silverman, Giovanni Ribisi and Neil Patrick Harris. The movie follows a sheepish farmer who backs out of a gunfight and loses his girlfriend, who leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. MacFarlane co-wrote the screenplay with Wellesley Wild & Alec Sulkin (Family Guy, Ted). Scott Stuber (Safe House, Identity Thief) and Jason Clark (Ted) are producing the project.

Walter Murphy is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming live action & CG-animated comedy Ted. The film is directed by Seth MacFarlane and stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale. The movie tells the story of a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) who came to life as the result of a childhood wish and has refused to leave his side ever since. MacFarlane has co-written the screenplay with Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild and is also producing the film with Scott Stuber (Role Models, Safe House), John Jacobs (Blades of Glory) and Jason Clark (Hotel for Dogs). Murphy has been working with MacFarlane over the last couple of years on the animated hit shows American Dad and Family Guy, for which the composer has received four Emmy Award nominations. Ted is scheduled to be released on July 13, 2012 by Universal Pictures.
