Disney announced today that composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater will be composing new songs for the upcoming animated series Tangled based on the 2010 hit movie of the same title. Kevin Kliesch is set to compose the original score for the show, which will feature the voices of Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi who are reprising their roles of Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. The series is set between the feature film and the 2012 short film Tangled Ever After and unfolds as Rapunzel acquaints herself with her parents, her kingdom and the people of Corona.

‘Galavant’ Soundtrack Released
Hollywood Records has released a full soundtrack album for ABC’s musical comedy Galavant. The album features the songs from the show written by Academy Award winner Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid, Enchanted) and Glenn Slater and performed by the series’ cast. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. A CD version is set to be released on February 17, 2015 and is available for pre-order here. Galavant is created by Dan Fogelman and stars Joshua Sasse, Mallory Jansen, Karen David, Timothy Omundson, Vinnie Jones and Luke Youngblood. The show centers on a dashing hero who is determined to restore his “Happily Ever After” by going after the evil King Richard, who ruined it the moment he stole the love of his life.

Alan Menken to Produce and Write Music for ABC Pilot ‘Galavant’
Variety is reporting that Alan Menken will be writing the music and executive producing the ABC comedy musical pilot Galavant. The show is created by Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Bolt, Tangled) and centers on handsome Prince Galavant and his quest for revenge over the king who stole his one true love. Fogelman is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Menken and Glenn Slater who is expected to write the lyrics for the show’s original songs. Menken and Slater have previously collaborated with Fogelman for a musical episode of the ABC comedy The Neighbors, for which the duo was recently nominated for an Emmy Award.
‘Leap of Faith’ Broadway Cast Recording Album Announced
Ghostlight Records will release the official cast recording album for the Broadway musical Leap of Faith. The album features the musical’s songs composed by multiple Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid) and lyrics by Glenn Slater. Leap of Faith is based on the 1992 film of the same name starring Steve Martin (and featuring a score by Cliff Eidelman) and centers on a con man who is posing as a man of faith and who is redeemed by the love of a good woman. The Tony Award-nominated musical scripted by Janus Cercone and Warren Leight premiered in Los Angeles in 2010 and opened on Broadway this past April.
