Variety is reporting that Alan Menken will be writing the music and executive producing the ABC comedy musical pilot Galavant. The show is created by Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love, Bolt, Tangled) and centers on handsome Prince Galavant and his quest for revenge over the king who stole his one true love. Fogelman is also executive producing the ABC Studios production with Menken and Glenn Slater who is expected to write the lyrics for the show’s original songs. Menken and Slater have previously collaborated with Fogelman for a musical episode of the ABC comedy The Neighbors, for which the duo was recently nominated for an Emmy Award. Menken was previously attached to an unproduced musical show for ABC with lyricist David Zippel back in 2010.
