Premiering tonight is the new Fox comedy Pivoting created by Liz Astrof and starring Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin, Maggie Q, JT Neal, Tommy Dewey and Marcello Reyes. The show’s original music is composed by Gabriel Mann (Modern Family, A Million Little Things, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Rectify, The Unicorn, Rosewood). Premiering on Tuesday, January 11, is the CW drama Naomi developed by Ava DuVernay & Jill Blankenship based on DC Entertainment’s comic book series of the same name and starring Kaci Walfall, Mary-Charles Jones, Cranston Johnson, Alexander Wraith, Camila Moreno, Mouzam Makkar, Barry Watson, Will Meyers and Aidan Gemme. Composer Piers Burbrook de Vere is reteaming with writer/director Abe Forsythe on the new Peacock/Stan original series Wolf Like Me. The show is created, written and directed by Forsythe and stars Josh Gad, Isla Fisher and Ariel Donoghue. The romantic dramedy centers on the relationship between a man who struggles to provide for his daughter since the death of his wife and a woman who has a secret she can’t bring herself to share with anyone. Marilyn Bergman (1928-2022)

Marilyn Bergman has passed away today at her home in Los Angeles. She was 93. Together with her husband Alan, the songwriter/lyricist wrote dozens of songs for film and television and won three Academy Awards for the songs The Way We Were from Sydney Pollack’s movie of the same title, The Windmills of Your Mind from Norman Jewison’s The Thomas Crown Affair, as well as the (song) score from 1983’s Yentl. Among her 16 Oscar nominations also were songs for Tootsie, Sydney Pollack’s Sabrina, Shirley Valentine, Yes, Giorgio, Best Friends, The Life and Times of Judge Roy Bean, The Happy Ending, Same Time, Next Year and The Promise. The only movie opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the spy thriller The 355 co-written and directed by Simon Kinberg and starring Jessica Chastain, Penélope Cruz, Lupita Nyong’o, Diane Kruger, Bingbing Fan, Édgar Ramirez and Sebastian Stan. The film’s original music is composed by Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Godzilla vs. Kong, Alita: Battle Angel, Divergent, Black Mass). No word on a soundtrack release. Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD is the Australian comedy drama June Again written and directed by JJ Winlove and starring Noni Hazlehurst, Claudia Karvan and Stephen Curry. Christopher Gordon (Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World, On the Beach, DaybreakersMoby DickCrawlAdore) has composed the film’s original music. The composer has released a soundtrack album featuring his score last spring when the movie opened in Australia. The written by Liz Rose, Hillary Lindsey & Lori McKenna, produced by Adam Anders & Peer Astrom (Glee, Rock of Ages) and performed by Caitlyn Smith and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music platforms, including Amazon. Milan Records has announced an English language version of the soundtrack album for the Japanese animated feature Belle. The album features the film’s score and vocal tracks written by Taisei Iwasaki, Ludvig Forssell and Yuta Bandoh, including the previously unreleased English versions of vocal tracks originally performed in Japanese, newly recorded in English by Kylie McNeill who stars in the title role in the English dubbed version of the film. The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, January 14 and will be available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. A medley of select vocal tracks from the album is embedded after the jump. La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1989 sports drama Field of Dreams written and directed by Phil Alden Robinson and starring Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, Timothy Busfield, James Earl Jones, Burt Lancaster and Ray Liotta. The 2-CD set features the Academy Award-nominated expanded original score from the Universal Pictures release composed and conducted by James Horner (Titanic, Braveheart, Avatar, Apollo 13, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens, Legends of the Fall), including previously unreleased music on the first disc and the remastered 1989 original soundtrack album on the second disc.
