Opening in around 800 U.S. theaters this weekend is the sci-fi horror movie Crimes of the Future written and directed by David Cronenberg and starring Viggo Mortensen, Léa Seydoux, Kristen Stewart, Scott Speedman, Don McKellar, Welket Bungué, Yorgos Pirpassopoulos, Nadia Litz, Tanaya Beatty and Lihi Kornowski. The film’s original music is composed by Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, The Silence of the Lambs, Hugo). Howe Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening semi-wide is the thriller Watcher directed by Chloe Okuno and starring Maika Monroe, Karl Glusman and Burn Gorman. Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Swallow, One Percent More Humid, Minding the Gap, In the Same Breath) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release.
