Bryce Dessner (The Two Popes, Bardo, A Good Person, The Kitchen, Irresistible) of the rock band The National has composed the original music for the upcoming French/British historical drama Widow Clicquot. The film is written and directed by Thomas Napper (Jawbone) and stars Haley Bennett, Tom Sturridge, Sam Riley, Leo Suter, Anson Boon, Ben Miles, Cecily Cleeve, Natasha O’Keeffe, Paul Rhys, Christopher Villiers, Ian Conningham, Cara Seymour and Mark Tandy. The movie is set in France during the Napoleonic Wars and tells the true story of Barbe-Nicole Ponsardin, the “Grande Dame of Champagne,” (aka Veuve Clicquot) who, at the age of 20, became Madame Clicquot after marrying the scion of a winemaking family. Radiofandango has released a soundtrack album for the Italian documentary Walls (Mur). The album features the film’s original music composed by Lorenzo Tomio (Dampyr, Everything Calls for Salvation, Leoni). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here. Sony Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year when the sci-fi drama premiered overseas. French-Canadian pianist and neo-classical composer Alexandra Stréliski has written the original score for the upcoming Canadian/Polish historical drama Irena’s Vow. The film is directed by Louise Archambault (Gabrielle, And the Birds Rained Down) and stars Sophie Nélisse, Dougray Scott and Andrzej Seweryn. The movie is set in occupied Poland during World War II and tells the story of a former nurse who risks her own life to shelter a dozen Jewish men and women from the Nazi war machine.
