Rocket Recordings will release a soundtrack album for the BBC period drama The Gallows Pole. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by the Swedish psychedelic rock band Goat. The soundtrack will be released digitally this Friday, July 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Gallows Pole is written and directed by Shane Meadows and stars Michael Socha, Sophie McShera, Thomas Turgoose, Anthony Welsh, Yusra Warsama, Samuel Edward-Cook, Adam Fogerty, Joe Sproulle, Nicole Barber-Lane, Fine Time Fontayne and Ralph Ineson. The 3-parter is based on the novel of the same title by Benjamin Myers and tells the true story of the Cragg Vale Coiners – a community of weavers and land-workers in 18th Century Yorkshire that embarked upon one of the biggest frauds in British history. Composer Mark Orton (The Good Girl, 12 Mighty Orphans, My Old Lady, Love Hard) is reuniting with director Alexander Payne (The Descendants, Election, Sideways) on the upcoming comedy drama The Holdovers. The film starring Paul Giamatti, Da’Vine Joy Randolph & Dominic Sessa is set in the early 1970s and follows a universally disliked professor at a prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go and forms an unlikely bond with one of them. The album features the film’s original score composed by Nathaniel Méchaly (Taken, Colombiana, The Grandmaster, Taxi Brooklyn, Shut In, Transporter: The Series). Magnificat is co-written and directed by Virginie Sauveur and stars Karin Viard, François Berleand, Maxime Bergeron and Anaïde Rozam. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Anne-Isabelle Lacassange about the head of the Paris Diocese of the catholic church who is called to a priest’s deathbed and finds out the the priest was a woman. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the action adventure Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny directed by James Mangold and starring Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Toby Jones and Mads Mikkelsen. The film’s original music is composed by John Williams (Star Wars, E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Schindler’s List, Jaws, Jurassic Park). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. Also opening nationwide is the animated feature Ruby Gillman, Teenage Kraken directed by Kirk DeMicco and starring Lana Condor, Annie Murphy, Toni Collette, Sam Richardson, Will Forte, Liza Koshy, Blue Chapman and Colman Domingo. Stephanie Economou (Assassin’s Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok, About My Father, Jupiter’s Legacy, The Chair) has composed the film’s original score.
