Abkco Records will be releasing the official soundtrack album for the indie comedy Our Idiot Brother. The soundtrack features selections from the film’s score by Nathan Larson and Eric D. Johnson, as well as songs by such artists as Willie Nelson, Generationals, Fruit Bats, Daniel Tashian & Mindy Smith, El May and Carol King. The album will be released on August 23, 2011 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sound clips are available in the box below. Our Idiot Brother is directed by Jesse Peretz (First Love, Last Rites, The Ex) and stars Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Emily Mortimer, Steve Coogan, Hugh Dancy, Rashida Jones and Shirley Knight. Benoit Charest Scoring ‘Upside Down’

Benoit Charest is scoring the upcoming sci-fi romance Upside Down. The movie is directed by Juan Diego Solanas and stars Kirsten Dunst and Jim Sturgess. The film centers on a a man searching an alternate universe for a long-lost love from his youth. James W. Skotchdopole (Man on Fire, Spy Game) is executive producing the big budget French/Canadian production and Alex McDowell (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Watchmen) is the project’s production designer. Charest’s best known film credit is the animated film The Triplets of Bellville, which earned the composer an Academy Award nomination for co-writing the song Belleville Redez-Vous. Upside Down already has distributors in place in several European countries. A domestic distribution deal has yet to be announced and a release later this year is expected.
‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ Soundtrack announced

Watertower Music has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming romantic comedy Crazy, Stupid, Love. The album features songs from the movie from artists including Thievery Corporation, The Acorn, Gram Rabbit, Nina Simone, Miike Snow, Goldfrapp, Say Hi, Doris Troy, The Bamboos and The Middle East. None of the original score by Christophe Beck and Nick Urata is included on the album. The soundtrack is set to be released on July 26, 2011 and will be available to download on Amazon. Carlo Siliotto Scoring ‘Without Men’

Composer Carlo Siliotto has recently scored his first English language feature film in several years. The comedy Without Men starring Eva Longoria, Christian Slater, Kate del Castillo and Oscar Nunez centers on a group of women of a small, remote Latin American mountain village that’s forever altered the day all of its men are recruited to go fight in the country’s civil war. The movie is based on James Canon’s Tales From the Town of Widows: A Novel and written for the screen and directed by Gabriela Tagliavini. The music for the film was recorded earlier this year in Bulgaria. Siliotto is best known internationally for his music for the 2004 comic book adaptation The Punisher and his Golden Globe-nominated score for Nomad: The Warrior. Maya Entertainment has picked up domestic rights for Without Men and is planning a theatrical release later this year.
‘Horrible Bosses’ Soundtrack Details

Watertower Music has announced the details for the soundtrack release of the comedy Horrible Bosses. The album includes the original score by Christopher Lennertz who collaborated with numerous rock musicians, including Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Mick McCready (Pearl Jam), Dave Levita (Eminem), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), Stefan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band),Victor Indrizzo (Beck) and DJ Cheapshot (Fort Minor, Linkin Park) to create the film’s music. Three new movies are opening wide this holiday weekend:
Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Jeong, Alan Tudyk, Frances McDormand and John Turturro already opened on Wednesday. The film’s music is composed by Steve Jablonsky. A score album has been released digitally and is available to download on iTunes (check out our soundtrack announcement for more information). Also opening wide this weekend is the Tom Hanks-directed comedy drama Larry Crowne starring Hanks and Julia Roberts. The movie is scored by composer James Newton Howard. A soundtrack album featuring twelve songs from the film and one track of Newton Howard’s score has been released earlier this week on Rhino Records. James Horner to Score ‘Black Gold’

James Horner has signed on to write the music for the epic adventure Black Gold. The film is directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud who has previously collaborated with Horner on the 1986 thriller The Name of the Rose starring Sean Connery and the 2001 war drama Enemy at the Gates. Black Gold is based on the classic novel The Great Thirst by Hans Reuschand and tells the story of the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia in the 1930’s just as oil is being discovered, and the rise of a young, dynamic leader who unites the various tribes of the desert kingdoms. Henry Jackman is scoring the upcoming cop thriller Man on a Ledge. The movie starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Edward Burns and Kyra Sedgwick centers on an ex-cop and now wanted fugitive who stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while an NYPD hostage negotiator tries to talk him down. The film is directed by Asger Leth who previously helmed the documentary Ghosts of Cite Soleil. Pablo Fenjves, Chris Gorak (Right at Your Door) and Erich & Jon Hoeber (Red, the upcoming Battleship) wrote the project’s script.
