WaterTower Music has released a new soundtrack for the CW show Smallville. The album includes selections from the show’s original score by Mark Snow and Louis Febre. Snow was the composer on the project during its first six seasons, while Febre scored the last four seasons. The soundtrack featuring almost 70 minutes of music is now available to download on Amazon. Check out audio clips from each track after the jump. Smallville created by Alfred Gough and Miles Millar is about to air its 2-hour series finale this Friday on the CW. The show, which followed Clark Kent’s adventures during the years before he becomes Superman stars Tom Welling, Kristin Kreuk, Michael Rosenbaum, Allison Mack and John Glover. ‘The X-Files’ Soundtrack Set released

La-La Land Records has released a 4CD-box set of composer Mark Snow‘s music for the mystery show The X-Files. The release includes selections of Snow’s score from 40 episodes that span the show’s nine seasons, for a total of more than 5 hours of music. The set is limited to 3000 copies and available to order on La-La Land Records’ website. Also check out the page for several lengthy audio clips from the set. Some of the episodes featured on the release include the Pilot, The Host, One Breath, Anasazi and The Post-Modern Prometheus. The X-Files created by Chris Carter and starring David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson aired from 1993 to 2002 on FOX and spun two theatrical movies released in 1998 and 2008, which Snow also scored. ‘Jig’ Features Music by Patrick Doyle

A project that somehow slipped under our radar is the documentary Jig, which opened in the UK last weekend. The film’s score is by Patrick Doyle whose music can currently been heard in Kenneth Branagh’s comic book adaption of Thor. Jig tells the story of the 40th Irish Dancing World Championships. The documentary directed and produced by Sue Bourne was given access for the very first time to the little known world of competitive Irish Dancing. Doyle’s Music was written for a small ensemble, including violin, guitar and flute. No information on a soundtrack release is available. Relativity Music Group has announced a soundtrack album for the dramedy Beginners. The album includes the original score by Roger Neill, David Palmer and Brian Reitzell. Also featured on the soundtrack are several songs from the movie from artists including Hoagy Carmichael, Gene Austin, Josephine Baker and Jolly Roll Morton. Paul Englishby Scoring David Hare’s ‘Page Eight’

Paul Englishby is the composer of the upcoming political thriller Page Eight. The BBC production centers on a long-serving M15 officer who is forced to quit his job in order to find the truth behind a mystery file which threatens its stability. The movie stars Bill Nighy, Rachel Weisz, Ralph Fiennes, Michael Gambon, Felicity Jones, Judy Davis and Ewen Bremner. Page Eight is written and directed by Oscar-nominated screenwriter David Hare (The Reader, The Hours) who wrote his first original (non-adapted) script in 20 years for the project. Scott Rudin (The Social Network, No Country for Old Men) is acting as one for the film’s executive producer. The project marks Englishby’s first high profile feature project since he scored the 2009 Academy Award-nominated drama An Education starring Carey Mulligan, Peter Sarsgaard and Alfred Molina. Christopher Young’s ‘Priest’ Soundtrack Details

Madison Gate Records has announced a soundtrack release for the action horror thriller Priest. The album includes Christopher Young’s original score from the film. The score was recorded with 83 piece orchestra and a 32 member choir. The album will be released tomorrow, May 10 and is available to order as an on demand CD-R on Amazon. William Ross has been hired to score the comedy A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. The second sequel in the series is directed by Todd Strauss-Schulson and Kal Penn, John Cho and Neil Patrick Harris are reprising their roles from the previous movies. They are joined by new cast members Patton Oswalt, Tom Lennon and Danny Trejo. Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg are once again writing the screenplay and Greg Shapiro returns as the producer. The movie follows the pair on a journey through New York City on Christmas Eve in search of the perfect Christmas tree after inadvertently burning down Harold’s father-in-law’s prize tree.
