Anton Sanko to Score ‘Jessabelle’

Anton Sanko has been hired to score the upcoming horror film Jessabelle. The film is directed by Kevin Greutert (Saw VI, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter) and stars Sarah Snook as a woman who is forced to return to her father’s home in Louisiana when a car accident leaves her without the use of her legs and she discovers the mysteries of her own birth and must confront a ghost. Mark Webber, David Andrews and Joelle Carter are co-starring. Robert Ben Garant (A Night at the Museum, The Pacifier) has written the film’s script and Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious) is producing the project. The movie marks Sanko’s fourth feature for Lionsgate following Rabbit Hole, The Possession (which is currently playing in theaters) and the upcoming Nurse 3-D. Jessabelle is expected to be released in 2013.

20th Century Fox TV Records has released the first soundtrack album for the long-running hit comedy How I Met Your Mother. The album features the songs from the show performed by the show’s cast members Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Segel, Josh Radnor and Cobie Smulders, including the Emmy-nominated track Nothing Suits Me Like a Suit. Also featured is the comedy’s main title theme Hey Beautiful by The Solids. The soundtrack album, which is entitled How I Met Your Music, is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips from all 20 tracks on the release. Michael Andrews is scoring the new FOX comedy Ben and Kate. The show is created by Dana Fox (What Happens in VegasCouples Retreat) and stars Nat Faxon, Dakota Johnson, Lucy Punch, Maggie Elizabeth Jones, Echo Kellum. The series follows a pair of odd-couple siblings and their friends as they push each other out of their comfort zones and into real life. Fox is executive producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Peter Chernin (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) and Katherine Pope (Terra Nova). The trio is also executive producing the Fox hit show New Girl, for which Andrews co-wrote the title song. Jake Kasdan who has previously collaborated with the composer several times, including on the hit features Bad Teacher and Orange County and the TV show Freaks and Geeks, has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing. Film Score Monthly has announced a deluxe soundtrack edition for the 1976 remake of King Kong directed by John Guillermin and starring Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange and Charles Grodin. The 2-CD set features the complete score composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer John Barry on one disc, as well as the original 1976 album and several alternates on the second disc. King Kong The film received an Academy Award for Best Special Effects (shared with Logan’s Run) and was nominated for Best Cinematography and Best Sound.

‘The Oranges’ Soundtrack Details

Relativity Music Group will be releasing a soundtrack album for the indie comedy The Oranges. The album features two tracks from the film’s score composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Time Machine) and Andrew Raiher, as well as the movie’s songs by artists including Treefight For Sunlight, The Submarines, Frazey Ford, Jon Allen, Schuyler Fisk, Zee Avi, The Grand Nationals, Dean Martin, Orba Squara and Derlene Love. The soundtrack will be released on October 2, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from the album are available after the jump. The Oranges is directed by Julian Farino and stars Hugh Laurie, Leighton Meester, Catherine Keener, Adam Brody, Alia Shawkat, Allison Janney and Oliver Platt. The film about a man who begins an affair with the daughter of the family who lives across the street premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by ATO Pictures for a US theatrical release on October 5. The details of the soundtrack album for Matteo Garrone’s dark comedy Reality have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score written by Academy Award-nominated composer Alexandre Desplat, as well as the film’s songs performed by Emilia Majello and Franco Ricciardi & Ivan Granatino. The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 2, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A physical version is currently only available as an import from Italy. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. Reality written and directed by Garrone (Gomorrah) follows a man who dreams of being a contestant on a reality show. The Italian/French co-production premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and is set to be released in Italy this weekend and in other European territories over the next couple of weeks. Four new dramas are premiering on the major networks this week:

Premiering on September 27 is the ABC drama Last Resort created by Shawn Ryan & Karl Gajdusek and starring Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick, Autumn Reeser, Max Adler, Daisy Betts and Dichen Lachman. The show’s music is composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) who has previously scored Ryan’s The UnitTerriers and The Chicago Code. David Carbonara is the composer of the new CBS period drama Vegas. The series is created by Nicholas Pileggi (Goodfellas, Casino) & Greg Walker and stars Dennis Quaid as Sheriff Ralph Lamb and Michael Chiklis as Chicago mobster Vincent Savino. Carrie-Anne Moss, Jason O’Mara and Taylor Handley are co-starring in the show, which is set in 1960s Las Vegas as it begins its rise as a gambling and entertainment mecca. James Mangold (Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with his producing partner Cathy Konrad (Scream), Pileggi, Walker and Arthur Sarkissian (Rush Hour trilogy). Stephen Endelman is scoring the new CBS drama Made in Jersey. The legal show is created by Dana Calvo (writer on Covert Affairs and Greek) and stars Janet Montgomery as young working-class woman from New Jersey who uses her street smarts to succeed at a top New York law firm. Kyle MacLachlan, Stephanie March, Toni Trucks, Donna Murphy, Erin Cummings and Kristoffer Polaha are co-starring. Mark Waters (Mean Girls, The Spiderwick Chronicles) has directed the pilot episode and is also executive producing the series with Kevin Falls (Franklin & Bash, Journeyman), Jamie Tarses (Happy Endings) and Julia Franz (Men at Work). Steven Price has signed on to score Alfonso Cuaron’s highly anticipated sci-fi thriller Gravity. The film stars George Clooney and Sandra Bullock as two astronauts who have to fight to survive on a remote space station after satellite debris wipes out the rest of the crew and destroys most of the station. Cuaron has written the movie’s screenplay with his son Jonas and Rodrigo Garcia (Albert NobbsMother and Child) and is also producing the Warner Bros. Pictures and Heydey Films production with David Heyman (Harry Potter series, I Am Legend). The director’s regular cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki is lensing the film.
