‘Flight of the Storks’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the mini-series Flight of the Storks (Le vol des cigognes). The album features the series’ original score written by French composer Eric Neveux (Intimacy, Hideaways). The soundtrack is now available digitally on iTunes, where you can also check out audio clips. Flight of the Storks is based on the 1994 novel by Jean-Christophe Grangné and follows a young academic who teams up with an amateur ornithologist to follow storks on their migration to Africa. The EuropaCorp Television production is directed by Jan Kounen (Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky) and stars Rutger Hauer, Harry Treadaway, Perdita Weeks and Clemens Schick. Martin Davich has composed the score for the indie western Sweetwater. The film is directed by Logan & Noah Miller and stars Ed Harris, January Jones, Jason Isaacs, Eduardo Noriega, Jason Aldean and Stephen Root. The movie is set in the late 1800s and follows a fanatical religious leader, a renegade Sheriff, and a former prostitute who collide in a blood triangle on the rugged plains of the New Mexico Territory. The Millers have also written the screenplay with Andrew McKenzie and Jason Netter (Wanted) is producing the Arc Entertainment production. ‘Frozen Planet’ Soundtrack Announced

Silva Screen Records has announced a soundtrack album for the BBC series Frozen Planet. The album features selections from the show’s score composed and conducted by George Fenton (Gandhi, Cry Freedom, The Fisher King) who has previously scored the nature documentary series The Blue Planet and Planet Earth. The music is performed by the BBC Concert Orchestra. The soundtrack will be released on March 18, 2013. Frozen Planet narrated by David Attenborough (and Alec Baldwin in the US version) focuses on life and the environment in both the Arctic and Antarctic. The series, which aired on BBC in the UK and on The Discovery Channel in the US, was honored with four Emmy Awards last year, including Outstanding Nonfiction Series. Read the rest of this entry »

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the soundtrack for Paramount Pictures’ 1991 Vietnam war-set action drama Flight of the Intruder directed by John Milius and starring Danny Glover, Willem Dafoe and Brad Johnson. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Basil Poledouris who also collaborated with the director on such films as Conan the Barbarian, Red Dawn and Farewell to the King. The album features the composer’s complete score, as well as two alternates and the world premiere of complete trailer music written by John Beal. Danny Lux to Score TNT’s ‘Monday Mornings’

Danny Lux has been tapped to score the new TNT original series Monday Mornings. The drama is created by David E. Kelley and stars Alfred Molina, Ving Rhames, Jamie Bamber, Jennifer Finnigan, Bill Irwin, Keong Sim, Sarayu Rao and Emily Swallow. The show based on a novel by practicing neurosurgeon and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta is set at the fictional Chelsea General Hospital in Portland, Oregon and follows the lives of a group of doctors as they push the limits of their abilities and confront their personal and professional failings. Kelley is executing producing the show with Gupta and Bill D’Elia (The West Wing, The Practice) who also directed the pilot. Lux has previously scored several shows for Kelley, including the Emmy-winning hit shows Ally McBeal and Boston Legal, and most recently the second season of NBC’s Harry’s Law. Atlantic Records to Release ‘Spring Breakers’ Soundtrack

Atlantic Records will release the official soundtrack album for the upcoming indie drama Spring Breakers. The album features the film’s original music composed by Skrillex and Cliff Martinez. Also included is music by Atlanta rapper Gucci Mane who also stars in the film. The soundtrack will be released on March 12, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The full album details are expected to be announced within the next couple of weeks. Spring Breakers is written and directed by Harmony Korine and stars James Franco, Selena Gomez, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Benson and Rachel Korine. The film premiered at last year’s Venice Film Festival and has been picked up for domestic distribution by A24 and Annapurna. George Fenton has reunited with director Ken Loach to score his upcoming feature-length documentary The Spirit of ’45 about a new socialism that emerged in the U.K. as World War II came to an end in 1945. The British director used footage from Britain’s regional and national archives, alongside sound recordings and contemporary interviews, to create a political and social narrative about the years following the second world war. The Fly Film Co. and Sixteen Films production is produced by Kate Ogborn (The Deep Blue Sea), Lisa Marie Russo (Of Time and the City) and Rebecca O’Brien (The Wind That Shakes the Barley).
