WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the DC Universe animated original movie Superman: Unbound. The album features the film’s original score composed by Kevin Kliesch (Thundercats). The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 30, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check out audio clips after the jump. Superman Unbound directed by James Tucker is based the 2008 comic book story arc Superman: Brainiac. The animated film’s voice talent includes Matt Bomer as Superman, John Noble, Stana Katic as Lois Lane, Molly Quinn, Frances Conroy as Martha Kent, Wade Williams, Diedrich Bader, Stephen Root and Alexander Gould. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror reboot Evil Dead directed by Fede Alvarez and starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas and Elizabeth Blackmore. The film’s music is written by Spanish composer Roque Banos (The Machinist, Sexy Beast). La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score digitally on April 9. A physical release featuring more than 25 minutes of additional music is set to be released on May 7. The full album details will be posted on this website within the next couple of days. Also opening wide is the Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park 3D based on the novel by Michael Crichton and starring Sam Neill, Laura Dern, Jeff Goldblum, Samuel L. Jackson and Richard Attenborough. The movie’s music is composed and conducted by John Williams. Geffen Records has released a 20th Anniversary soundtrack edition featuring the content of the original album, as well as four previously unreleased tracks. Varèse Sarabande to Celebrate 35th Anniversary with Film Music Concert

Varèse Sarabande Records will host a 35th anniversary concert with a performance by the Golden State Pops Orchestra on May 11, 2013 at the Warner Grand Theatre at 478 W 6th Street in San Pedro, CA. The concert will feature a performance by Michael Giacchino who will conduct the world premiere of his music from the upcoming Star Trek Into Darkness. Composers John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon), John Debney, Mark Isham (Dolphin Tale), Brian Tyler (Fast Five), Christopher Lennertz, Joel McNeely and Diego Navarro will also be guest conducting. Also in attendance as a special guest will be composer Danny Elfman. Varèse Sarabande Executive Producer Robert Townson will be hosting the event. ‘Hell & Back’ to Feature Music by Richard Gibbs

Richard Gibbs is composing the score for the upcoming R-rated stop motion animated feature comedy Hell & Back. The film is directed by Tommy Gianas (Human Giant) & Ross Shuman and follows two best friends as they rescue a buddy who has been accidentally dragged to Hell. The movie’s voice cast includes Mila Kunis, Nick Swardson, Danny McBride, Susan Sarandon, Jennifer Coolidge, Maria Bamford, TJ Miller, Rob Riggle, Brian Posehn and Kumail Najiani. Corey Campodonico, Eric Blyler and Alex Bulkley (Robot Chicken, Moral Orel) are producing the ShadowMachine Films production. Gibbs’ previous scoring credits include 10 Things I Hate About You, Doctor Dolittle, Big Momma’s House, 28 Days, I Spy and Battlestar Galactica. Hell & Back is currently in post-production and is expected to be completed later this year.
Ennio Morricone Rejoins Gorfaine/Schwartz Agency

Honorary Oscar-winning composer Ennio Morricone has rejoined the Gorfaine/Schwartz agency. The Italian composer was previously represented by the talent agency up until a couple years ago and the company has just become again the exclusive representation of the legendary composer whose credits include Sergio Leone’s The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Brian De Palma’s The Untouchables, Roland Joffe’s The Mission, Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven and Leone’s Once Upon a Time in America. Morricone has recently composed the scores for various Italian productions, including the English language drama The Best Offer directed by Giuseppe Tornatore and starring Geoffrey Rush and Jim Sturgess. His music was also recently featured in Quentin Tarantino’s international box office hit Django Unchained, for which he has written the original song Ancora Qui.
‘The Great Gatsby’ Soundtrack Details

Warner Bros. Pictures and Universal Music Group’s Interscope Records have announced the details of the soundtrack album for Baz Luhrmann’s epic drama The Great Gatsby. The album features the songs from the film, including Jay-Z’s original track No Church in the Wild, as well as his hit song 100$ Bill. Also included are the original songs Over the Love by Florence + the Machine and Young and Beautiful by Lana Del Rey, which will also be released as a single on April 23, 2013. Also featured are Beyonce x Andre 3000 (collaborating on Amy Winehouse’s Back to Black), Fergie + Q Tip + GoonRock, Coco O. of Quadron, Gotye, Nero and Sia, Jack White (who performs U2’s Love Is Blindness, Bryan Ferry and Emeli Sande. The soundtrack will be released on May 7 in the US and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A deluxe edition with three additional bonus tracks will be available exclusively at Target. Ryan Amon Scoring Neil Blomkamp’s ‘Elysium’

Ryan Amon is the composer of Neil Blomkamp’s upcoming sci-fi action drama Elysium. The movie written and directed by Blomkamp stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Diego Luna and Carly Pope. The film is set on a space station occupied by the very wealthy while the rest of humanity lives on a ravaged, overpopulated Earth. Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Jumper) is producing the Media Rights Capital production. Elysium marks Amon’s first major film scoring assignment. Contemporary Media Recordings has released a soundtrack album for the mini-series Labyrinth. The album features the original score from the series composed by Trevor Jones (The Dark Crystal, The Last of the Mohicans). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Lucas Vidal to Score ‘Mindscape’

Lucas Vidal has been tapped to score the upcoming dramatic thriller Mindscape. The film marks the feature directorial debut of commercials director Jorge Dorado and stars Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, Sherlock Holmes), Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story) and Brian Cox (The Bourne Supremacy, Braveheart). The movie scripted by Guy Holmes centers on a man who can enter peoples’ memories and who takes on the case of a brilliant, troubled and dangerous teenage girl to determine whether she is a sociopath or a trauma victim.
