Riz Ortolani has been selected as the 13th recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award at the the closing-night gala of the World Soundtrack Awards at the Ghent Film Fest on October 19, 2013. The Italian composer is best known for his scores to numerous spaghetti westerns and international films including the 1980 horror film Hannibal Holocaust and the British drama The 7th Dawn. Ortolani received a Grammy and an Academy Award nomination for the song More from the 1962 documentary Mondo Cane and was honored with another Oscar nomination for writing the title song for the 1970 western Madron. iZLER has been tapped to score the CBS drama pilot Reckless. The show is created by Dana Stevens (What About Brian, screenwriter of City of Angels & For the Love of the Game) and stars Anna Wood, Cam Gigandet, Shawn Hatosy, Michael Gladis and Adam Rodrigues. The legal drama is set in Charleston, South Carolina and follows a Yankee litigator a Southern City Attorney who struggle to hide their intense attraction while clashing over a police sex scandal. Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight, Thirteen) directed the pilot episode. Ian Sander and Kim Moses (Ghost Whisperer, Profiler) are executive producing the CBS Television Studios production with Stevens. ‘Only God Forgives’ Soundtrack Details

The details of the soundtrack album for Nicolas Winding-Refn’s upcoming thriller Only God Forgives have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Solaris) who previously scored the director’s last feature Drive. Also included is the song You Are My Dream by the Thai band PROUD, which was used in the film’s trailer. The soundtrack will be released on May 20, 2013 in France, where the movie is opening later this month. Milan Records will release a soundtrack in the US closer to the domestic release in July. Only God Forgives stars Ryan Gosling as the scion of a drug-smuggling family who runs a Thai boxing club and is sent on a quest for vengeance by his mother. Carter Burwell is scoring the upcoming drama August: Osage County. The film is directed by John Wells (The Company Men) and stars Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Chris Cooper, Benedict Cumberbatch, Margo Martindale, Juliette Lewis, Abigail Breslin, Ewan McGregor, Dermot Mulroney, Julianne Nicholson, Misty Upham and Sam Shepard. Premiering on Saturday, May 11, is the Hallmark Channel original movie The Confession based on the novel by Beverly Lewis, directed by Michael Landon Jr. and starring Katie Leclerk, Bill Oberst Jr., Adrian Paul, Sherry Stringfield, Sandra Van Natta and Cameron Deane Stewart. Lee Holdridge (Beauty and the Beast, Moonlighting) has composed the film’s original score. The project is the sequel to last year’s The Shunning starring Danielle Panabaker, which was also scored by Holdridge and tells the continuing story of Katie Lapp, a young Amish woman who goes on a journey in search of her identity. Relativity Music Group will release a soundtrack album for the crime thriller The Iceman. The album features the film’s original score composed by Haim Mazar. Also included is the end titles song No Looking Back by Crash Kings. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 7, 2013. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next couple of days. The Iceman is directed by Ariel Vromen and stars Michael Shannon, Winona Ryder, James Franco, Ray Liotta, Chris Evans, David Schwimmer, Robert Davi and Danny Abeckaser. The movie tells the true story of notorious contract killer Richard Kuklinski from his early days in the mob until his arrest for the murder of more than 100 men. William Ross is the composer of the upcoming sports family drama 50 to 1. The film is directed by Jim Wilson who is best known as an Academy Award-winning producer of such films as Dances with Wolves and The Bodyguard and whose previous directing credits include 1996’s Head Above Water. The movie starring Skeet Ulrich, Christian Kane, William Devane, Madelyn Deutch and Calvin Borel tells the true story of Kentucky Derby longshot Mine That Bird who won the Derby in 2009 and went on to finish second in the Preakness and third in the Belmont that year. Guaranteed to top the weekend box office is the superhero sequel Iron Man 3 directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. The film’s original music is composed by Brian Tyler (Eagle Eye, Fast Five, The Expendables). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Check out our previous article for the full album details. The label has also released the album Heroes Fall featuring songs from and inspired by the film (click here for more information). The film’s original score is composed by Johan Soderqvist who has previously collaborated with the director on such films as After the Wedding and Brothers. ‘Epic’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classics will release the official soundtrack album for Blue Sky Studios’ new animated feature Epic. The album features the film’s original music composed by Danny Elfman. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 13, 2013. A CD version is set to come out on May 28 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available below. Epic is directed by Chris Wedge and follows a teenage girl who finds herself magically transported into a secret universe and must band together with a rag-tag team of whimsical characters in order to save their world. The film’s voice talent includes Colin Farrell, Josh Hutcherson, Amanda Seyfried, Christoph Waltz, Pitbull, Jason Sudeikis, Steven Tyler, Aziz Ansari, Blake Anderson, Judah Friedlander and Beyoncé Knowles. Brian Tyler to Score ‘Sleepy Hollow’ and ‘Hatfields & McCoys’ Pilots

Brian Tyler has signed on to score the pilot for the Fox drama Sleepy Hollow. The show is created by Alex Kurtzman & Bob Orci (Star Trek, Transformers) and Phillip Iscove and stars Tom Mison, Nicole Beharie, Orlando Jones, John Cho and Katia Winter. The supernatural thriller is based on The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow and follows Ichabod Crane as he partners with Sleepy Hollow’s Detective Abbie Archer to solve the mysteries of a town ravaged by the battle between good and evil. Len Wiseman (Live Free or Die Hard, Underworld) has directed the pilot. Kurtzman & Orci are producing the 20th Century Fox Television production with Wiseman and Heather Kadin.
