Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for the 1985 comedy drama Fandango directed by Kevin Reynolds and starring Kevin Costner and Judd Nelson. The album features the film’s original score composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, The Avengers). Also included are three extra tracks, including an alternate cue from the composer’s score. The soundtrack is now available to order on Intrada’s official website, where you can also check out audio clips from the soundtrack for the Warner Bros. and Amblin Entertainment production. A.R. Rahman has signed on to score the upcoming sports drama Million Dollar Arm. The film is directed by Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl, Fright Night) and stars Jon Hamm, Bill Paxton, Lake Bell, Suraj Sharma, Aasif Mandvi, Madhur Mittal, Pitobash and Alan Arkin. The movie is based on a true story of the real-life sports agent Jeff Bernstein who discovered professional pitchers Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel through a reality show he staged in India with cricket players. Thomas McCarthy (The Visitor, Win Win, The Station Agent) wrote the screenplay. Joe Roth (Oz The Great and Powerful, Alice in Wonderland) is producing the Mayhem Pictures and Roth Films production with Mark Ciardi & Gordon Gray (Secretariat, Miracle, The Rookie). ‘Vikings’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the History Channel’s original series Vikings. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by Trevor Morris (The Tudors, Immortals, Olympus Has Fallen). Also included is the show’s opening credits theme If I Had a Heart by Fever Ray. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. ‘Turbo’ Deluxe Edition Soundtrack Announced

Relativity Music Group will release a deluxe edition of the soundtrack album for Dreamworks Animation’s Turbo. The album features eleven additional tracks from the film’s original score composed by Henry Jackman (X-Men: First Class, Wreck-It-Ralph) in addition to the content of the regular edition that was announced last week. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 16, 2013. Turbo is directed by David Soren and features a voice cast including Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Richard Jenkins, Bill Hader Luis Guzmán, Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez, Maya Rudolph, Ben Schwartz, Kurtwood Smith, Snoop Dogg and Samuel L. Two new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is Pixar’s animated film sequel Monsters University directed by Dan Scanion and featuring the voice talent of Billy Crystal, John Goodman, Steve Buscemi Jennifer Tilly, Frank Oz, John Ratzenberger and Kelsey Grammer. The film’s music is composed by Randy Newman who previously scored 2001’s Monsters, Inc. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as track from Axwell & Sebastian Ingrosso of the electronic music trio Swedish House Mafia. Also opening wide is the zombie thriller World War Z directed by Marc Forster and starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale and Matthew Fox. The film’s original score is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma). The thriller also features additional music by Matthew Bellamy performed by Muse. Warner Bros. La-La Land Records will release a soundtrack album for the DC Comics animated television series Young Justice. The album features selections from the show’s original music from the first season and the second season Young Justice: Invasion composed by Lolita Ritmanis, Michael McCuistion & Kristopher Carter (Batman: The Brave And The Bold, Ben 10: Ultimate Alien, Batman Beyond). Last night, the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) held its annual Film & Television Music Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Patrick Doyle was honored with the Henry Mancini Award in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of film and television music. The award was presented to Doyle by ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams and President of Feature Post Production at 20th Century Fox Ted Gagliano following a video tribute featuring clips of many of Doyle’s best known scores including Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Gosford Park, Dead Again, Sense and Sensibility, Hamlet, Thor, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Indochine and A Little Princess. Harry Gregson-Williams to Score ‘The Equalizer’

Harry Gregson-Williams has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Equalizer. The film is directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen, King Arthur) and stars Denzel Washington, Chloë Grace Moretz, Melissa Leo, David Meunier, Haley Bennett and Marton Csokas. The movie is based on the 1980s television show created by Michael Sloan and Richard Lindheim and follows a retired covert operative who is working at a Home Depot when one of his acts of kindness towards a prostitute gets him embroiled with the Russian mob. Richard Wenk (The Expendables 2, 16 Blocks) wrote the screenplay and Todd Black & Jason Blumenthal (The Pursuit of Happyness, Knowing) and Steve Tisch (Forrest Gump) are producing the project for Escape Artists, alongside Alex Siskin, Mace Neufeld, Tony Eldridge and original series creator Michael Sloan. Gregson-Williams has previously written the music for Fuqua’s feature directorial debut The Replacement Killers and has also scored Tony Scott’s The Taking of Pelham 1-2-3 for Escape Artists. ‘The Congress’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Ari Folman’s hybrid live-action/animated film The Congress. The album features the movie’s original score composed by Max Richter (Disconnect) who previously scored the director’s Academy Award-nominated film Waltz With Bashir. The soundtrack will be released digitally on July 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Congress is adapted for the screen and directed by Folman and stars Robin Wright, Jon Hamm, Paul Giamatti and Harvey Keitel. The movie is based on the 1971 novel The Futurological Congress by Stanislaw Lem and follows an aging, out-of-work actress, portrayed by Wright as an alternate reality version of herself.
