Grammy Award-winning music producer/guitarist/composer Nile Rodgers and Grammy Award-nominated singer/rapper/songwriter The-Dream (aka Terius Gesteelde-Diamant) are collaborating to write original song for the upcoming horror movie Opus. The film is written and directed by Mark Anthony Green and stars Ayo Edebiri, John Malkovich, Murray Bartlett, Amber Midthunder, Stephanie Suganami, Young Mazino and Tatanka Means. Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the superhero movie The Marvels co-written and directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris, Samuel L. Jackson,  Gary Lewis, Zawe Ashton, Seo-Jun Park, Mohan Kapur, Zenobia Shroff and Saagar Shaikh. The film’s original music is composed by Laura Karpman (Ms. Marvel, What If..?, American Fiction, Lovecraft CountryUndergroundSet It Up). Hollywood Records & Marvel Music have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score this past Wednesday. William Marriott has provided the original score for the new MGM+ original series Beacon 23. Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Westworld, Pacific Rim, Iron Man, Eternals, House of the Dragon, Clash of the Titans) has contributed the theme and also served as the music producer on the show created by Zak Penn (Ready Player One, Free Guy) based on the best-selling book by Hugh Howey and starring Lean Headey and Stephan James. The sci-fi thriller follows a government agent and a stoic ex-military man, whose fates become entangled after they find themselves trapped together inside one of many Beacons that serve as a lighthouse for intergalactic travelers. Quartet Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1993 action thriller Cliffhanger directed by Renny Harlin and starring Sylvester Stallone, John Lithgow, Michael Rooker & Janine Turner featuring music composed by Trevor Jones (The Dark CrystalThe Last of the Mohicans, Merlin, LabyrinthMississippi Burning, Dark City, Excalibur). The album, which is being released to coincide with the movie’s 30th anniversary, features the same content as the (sold out) expanded 2017 soundtrack released by La-La Land Records. The 2-CD set, which is limited to 1,000 copies, is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also check out the full album details and listen to audio samples. The movie is directed by Sean Charmatz (Trolls Holiday in Harmony) and features the voice talent of Jacob Tremblay and Paul Walter Hauser. The DreamWorks Animation production is based on the book of the same title by Emma Yarlett and tells the story of an average elementary school kid who is afraid of many things, including the dark, when he is whisked onto a whirlwind adventure that might just cure him of his adolescent fears. Invada Records has released a soundtrack album for the Spanish Amazon original series Romancero. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Jim Williams (TitanePossessor, Resurrection, RawBeast, A Field in England, Sightseers). Romancero is created by Fernando Navarro, directed by Manson (aka Tomás Peña) and stars Sasha Cócola, Elena Matic, Ricardo Gómez, Guillermo Toledo, Belén Cuesta and Julieta Cardinali.
