La-La Land Records and 5 Cats Studios will release a score album for Blue Sky Studios’s animated movie Ferdinand. The album features the film’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Shrek, X-Men: The Last Stand, Bolt, Ice Age: The Meltdown). The EP features the original songs Watch Me and Home (which is already available as a digital single here) by Nick Jonas, Juanes’ original track Lay Hour Head On Me, as well as Pitbull’s Freedom and Los Del Rio’s Macarena. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on December 1 by Island Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Ryan Bingham has recorded the original song How Shall a Sparrow Fly for Scott Cooper’s western Hostiles. The singer/songwriter, who also appears in the movie, previously co-wrote the song The Weary Kind for Cooper’s 2009 feature Crazy Heart with T Bone Burnett, for which he received an Academy Award, Golden Globe and Grammy Award. The drama is written by Sarah Phelps (The Casual Vacancy, The Crimson Field) based on Agatha Christie’s classic novel and stars Bill Nighy, Catherine Keener, Matthew Goode, Eleanor Tomlinson, Anthony Boyle, Luke Treadaway, Morven Christie, Crystal Clarke, Ella Purnell and Alice Eve. Sandra Goldbacher (Victoria, The Hour) is directing the 3-parter, which revolves around the murder of a wealthy philanthropist in 1954, and Roopesh Parekh (Poldark) is producing the series.
