Premiering on Tuesday, June 11, is the HBO documentary Ice on Fire directed by Leila Conners and produced and narrated by Leonard Di Caprio. The film’s original music is composed by Jeremy Soule (The Elder Scrolls series, Guild Wars, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic) & Jonah Johnson. The movie focuses on many never-before-seen solutions designed to slow down our escalating environmental crisis. The documentary premiered at this year’s Cannes Film Festival and will premiere exclusively on HBO. Visit the official movie website for more information.

Premiering on Friday, June 14 is the Netflix original movie Murder Mystery directed by Kyle Newacheck and starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston, Luke Evans, Gemma Arterton, Luis Gerardo Mendez, Shioli Kutsuna, David Walliams and Terence Stamp. Rupert Gregson-Williams (Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Hacksaw Ridge, The Crown, The Legend of Tarzan) has composed the film’s original score. ‘Hierro’ Soundtrack Album Released

Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for the Movistar+ original Spanish crime drama Hierro. The album features selections of the show’s original music composed by Xavi Font (Gun City, The Apostle) & Elba Fernández. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Hierro is created by Pepe Coira, directed by Jorge Coira and stars Candela Peña and Darío Grandinetti. The 8-parter is set on remote island of El Hierro in the Canary Islands and follows a judge investigating a murder whose prime suspect is a shady local entrepreneur. Read the rest of this entry »

Keegan DeWitt Scoring Netflix’s ‘Trinkets’

Keegan DeWitt (Hearts Beat Loud, I’ll See You in My Dreams, The Hero, Gemini) is the composer of the new Netflix original series Trinkets. The show is developed by Kirsten “Kiwi” Smith (Legally Blonde, 10 Things I Hate About You), Amy Andelson & Emily Meyer (Step Up 3D) based on Smith’s YA novel of the same title and stars Brianna Hildebrand, Kiana Madeira, Quintessa Swindell. The drama follows a grieving teen who finds an unexpected connection with two classmates at her new high school after they all land in the same Shoplifters Anonymous group. Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Expected to top the weekend box office is the animated sequel The Secret Life of Pets 2 directed by Chris Renaud and starring Kevin Hart, Patton Oswalt, Lake Bell, Hannibal Buress, Harrison Ford and Tiffany Haddish. The film’s original music is composed by Alexandre Desplat (The Shape of Water, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The King’s Speech). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as songs by Jack Antonoff & LunchMoneyLewis feat. Aminé. Click here for the full album details.

Also opening nationwide is the X-Men movie Dark Phoenix directed by Simon Kinberg and starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Evan Peters, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Jessica Chastain. Marcelo Zarvos Scoring Showtime’s ‘The Loudest Voice’

Marcelo Zarvos (Fences, Wonder, The Good Shepherd, Enough Said) is composing the original music for the upcoming Showtime limited series The Loudest Voice. The show is based on the bestselling book The Loudest Voice in the Room by Gabriel Sherman and stars Russell Crowe as Roger Ailes, Naomi Watts, Sienna Miller, Seth MacFarlane, Simon McBurney and Annabelle Wallis. The 7-part drama explores how Ailes became the Republican Party’s de facto leader, while touching on the sexual harassment accusations that brought his Fox News reign to an end. Scopas Medien AG has released a soundtrack album for the animated feature Marnie’s World (aka Spy Cat). The album features the film’s original music composed by Andreas Radzuweit. Marnie’s World is written and directed by Christoph & Wolfgang Lauenstein (Luis and the Aliens) who received an Academy Award for the animated short Balance and centers on a pampered pussycat who is lured into becoming a secret agent and teams up with a bunch of runaway animals on a mission to track down a gang of notorious thieves. The show is developed by Mindy Kaling & Matt Warburton (The Mindy Project) based on the 1994 feature of the same title and stars Zoe Boyle, Nathalie Emmanuel, Guz Khan, Sophia La Porta, Harish Patel, Nikesh Patel, John Reynolds, Rebecca Rittenhouse and Brandon Mychal Smith. The comedy follows four American friends who reunite for a fabulous London wedding, but – after a bombshell at the altar throws their lives into turmoil – they must weather a tumultuous year of romance and heartbreak. Netflix’s ‘The Black Godfather’ to Feature Original Song by Pharrell Williams

Grammy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Pharrell Williams has recorded an original song for the new Netflix documentary The Black Godfather. The song, entitled Letter to My Godfather, will be released as a digital single tomorrow, June 7 by Epic Records. Click here to download the track and to listen to the full song after the jump. The Black Godfather is produced and directed by Reginald Hudlin (Boomerang, House Party, Marshall) and follows the life of Clarence Avant, the ultimate, uncensored mentor and behind-the-scenes rainmaker in music, film, TV and politics.
