Premiering tomorrow, November 12, is the second season of the National Geographic original series Mars created by Ben Young Mason & Justin Wilkes and starring JiHAE, Alberto Ammann, Clémentine Poidatz, Esai Morales and Jeff Hephner. The show’s original music is composed by Brian Reitzell (Friday Night Lights, Hannibal, American Gods, Boss) who is taking over scoring duties from Nick Cave & Warren Ellis who scored the drama’s first season. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Reitzell’s music from Season 2 (click here for the full album details).

Premiering on Tuesday, November 13 is DreamWorks Animation Television’s new series She-Ra and the Princesses of Power developed by Noelle Stevenson based on the classic 1980s show and starring Aimee Carrero, Karen Fukuhara, AJ Michalka, Marcus Scribner, Reshma Shetty and Lorraine Toussaint. Sunna Wehrmeijer (Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz) is the show’s composer. The show, which revolves around soldier Adora as she finds a magic sword – and her identity as legendary hero She-Ra, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix. ‘5th Passenger’ Soundtrack to Be Released

Plaza Mayor Company will release a soundtrack for the sci-fi thriller 5th Passenger. The album features the film’s original music composed and performed by Ramin Kousha (Sharknado, Dracula: The Impaler). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 7, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. 5th Passenger is directed by Scotty Baker and stars Doug Jones, Tim Russ, Marina Sirtis, Morgan Lariah and Armin Shimerman . The movie is set in 2151 in the aftermath of an oppressive class war and revolves around a pregnant officer aboard an escape pod who must struggle to survive with her remaining crew when a mysterious and vicious life form attack. ‘DriverX’ Soundtrack Announced

A soundtrack album has been announced for the indie drama DriverX. The album features the original songs and score from the film composed by Lili Haydn, as well as songs by Marvin Etzioni. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 30 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. DriverX is written and directed by Henry Barrial and stars Patrick Fabian, Tanya Clarke, Desmin Borges, Oscar Nunez, Travis Schuldt and Melissa Fumero. The movie follows an unemployed husband and father who is desperate to find a job and signs up to drive for the popular ride-share company DriverX, leading his marriage to fray at home.  Read the rest of this entry »

Roberta Flack’s ‘Running’ from ‘3100: Run and Become’ Released

Mimami Media has released the original song Running from the documentary 3100: Run and Become. The track is written by the film’s composer Michael A. Levine (Cold Case, Siren, Served Like a Girl) and performed by Grammy Award-winning singer Roberta Flack. The song is now available to download on Amazon and iTunes. 3100: Run and Become is directed by Sanjay Rawal and follows an unassuming paperboy from Finland as he attempts the world’s longest race all around a 1/2 mile sidewalk loop in New York City. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch directed by Scott Mosier & Yarrow Cheney and starring Benedict Cumberbatch. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, Nightmare Before Christmas). Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (click here for the full album details). Columbia Records has released a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie, including an original song by Tyler, the Creator (click here for more information).

Also opening wide is the thriller The Girl in the Spider’s Web directed by Fede Alvarez and starring Claire Foy, Sverrir Gudnason, Lakeith Stanfield, Sylvia Hoeks, Stephen Merchant, Claes Bang, Christopher Convery, Synnøve Macody Lund and Vicky Krieps. Roque Banos (Don’t Breathe, Evil Dead, In the Heart of the Sea, The Machinist, The Commuter) has composed the film’s original music. ‘Cargo’ Soundtrack Released

Universal Music Australia has released a soundtrack album for the Australian zombie thriller Cargo. The album features the film’s original music composed by Daniel Rankine P.K.A. Trials with Dr. G Yunupingu, Michael Hohnen and Johnathon Mangarri Yunupingu featuring additional instrumentation by John Bartlett & Paul Bartlett. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Cargo is directed by Ben Howling & Yolanda Ramke and stars Martin Freeman, Anthony Hayes, Susie Porter, Caren Pistorius, Kris McQuade and Bruce R. Carter. Disasterpeace to Score ‘The Hole in the Fence’

Variety is reporting that Disasterpeace (aka Rich Vreeland) is set to score the upcoming Mexican thriller The Hole in the Fence. The film is directed by Joaquín del Paso (Maquinaria Panamericana) and follows a group of boys from a Catholic school from Mexico’s upper-class on a school trip, on which they find a disconcerting hole in the fence which protects their camp’s perimeter. No casting announcements have been made yet. Del Paso also co-wrote the screenplay with Lucy Pawlak and will produce the project with Fernanda de la Peza. Read the rest of this entry »

WaterTower Music has released the first soundtrack album for the Fox drama Gotham. The album features selections of the original score from the show’s first season composed by David Russo (Nikita, The Tomorrow People) and Graeme Revell (The Crow, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, Pineapple Express, The Chronicles of Riddick). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Gotham is developed by Bruno Heller based on the DC Comics characters and stars Ben McKenzie, Donal Logue,David Mazouz, Zabryna Guevara, Sean Pertwee, Robin Lord Taylor and Erin Richards. ‘Sadie’ Soundtrack Announced

The Orchard will release a soundtrack album for Sadie. The album features the film’s original score composed by Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready (Fat Kid Rules the World, The Glamour & the Squalor, Elvis Presley: The Searcher), as well as the original song Show Your Colors, on which McCready collaborated with Thunderpussy’s Molly Sides & Whitney Petty (already available to download here). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 16 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Sadie is directed by Megan Griffiths and stars Sophia Mitri Schloss, Melanie Lynsky, John Gallagher. Jr, Danielle Brooks, Tony Hale and Keith L. Lakeshore Records will release the official soundtrack album for Karyn Kusama’s thriller Destroyer. The album features the film’s original music composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Ghostbusters, Spy, Tropic Thunder, A Simple Favor). The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 16, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Destroyer is directed by Kusama, written by Phil Hay & Matt Manfredi and stars Nicole Kidman, Sebastian Stan, Toby Kebbell, Tatiana Maslany, Bradley Whitford, Jade Pettyjohn and Scoot McNairy. The movie follows the moral and existential odyssey of an LAPD detective who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results.
