Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Entertainment have announced that Hans Zimmer will be composing the score for the upcoming new film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune. The film is directed by Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Prisoners) and stars Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Zendaya, David Dastmalchian, Stephen Henderson, Charlotte Rampling, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem. A soundtrack album has been released for the British indie comedy Benjamin. The album features the film’s original music composed by James Righton. Benjamin is written and directed by Simon Amstell and stars Colin Morgan, Phénix Brossard and Joel Fry. The movie follows a rising young filmmaker as he is thrown into emotional turmoil by a burgeoning romance and the upcoming premiere of his second feature. Scott Bomar has recently composed the original score for the upcoming biographical comedy drama Dolemite Is My Name. The film is directed by Craig Brewer (Footloose) and stars Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Craig Robinson, Mike Epps, Tituss Burgess and Da’Vine Joy Randolph. The movie tells the life story of Rudy Ray Moore, a “larger than life” comedian, musician, singer, actor, and film producer in the 1970s who – when he couldn’t get work in Hollywood – simply created his own – including the most well-known Blaxploitation film of all time, Dolemite. Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Wonder Park written and produced by Josh Applebaum & Andre Nemec and featuring the voices of Jennifer Garner, Matthew Broderick, John Oliver, Mila Kunis and Ken Jeong. The film’s original score is composed by Steven Price (Gravity, Suicide Squad, Baby Driver). Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Varese Sarabande has announced the newest titles in its CD Club series, including a deluxe soundtrack edition for the 1990 action sequel RoboCop 2 directed by Irvin Kershner and starring Peter Weller, Nancy Allen, Dan O’Herlihy, Belinda Bauer, Tom Noonan and Gabriel Damon. The album features the expanded original score from the Orion Pictures production composed and conducted by Leonard Rosenman (Beneath The Planet of the Apes, Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, Fantastic Voyage), including over 40 minutes of previously unreleased music.
