The Academy’s Board of Governors has approved rules and campaign regulations for the 93rd Academy Awards, including a minor rule change for the Original Score category. According to the updated rules, “a score must be created specifically for the eligible feature-length motion picture and comprise a minimum of 60% of the total music in the film. If a score does not meet the minimum 60%, the composer may submit a letter to the Branch Executive Committee, stating reasons for the score to be accepted for consideration. All letters must be received by the due dates published by the Academy for the current awards cycle. In cases such as sequels and franchises from any media, the score must consist of more than 80% newly composed music which does not contain any pre-existing themes borrowed from previous scores in the franchise”. Plaza Mayor Company will release two soundtrack albums for the Hong Kong crime thrillers Z Storm, S Storm, L Storm and P Storm. The albums feature the original music from al four movies composed by Anthony Chue (Reign of Assassins, Divergence, Invisible Target, Bodies at Rest). The Z & S Storm album will be released digitally on May 8 and is now available for pre-order here and the L & P Storm album is set to come out on May 22 and is available to order here. The film is directed by Nadia Hallgren (After Maria) and offers a look into the life of former First Lady Michelle Obama during a moment of profound change, not only for her personally but for the country she and her husband served over eight impactful years in the White House. ‘Speer Goes to Hollywood’ Soundtrack Released

MovieScore Media has released a soundtrack album for the documentary Speer Goes to Hollywood. The album features the film’s original music composed by Frank Ilfman (Big Bad Wolves, Ghost Stories, The Etruscan Smile, Gunpowder Milkshake). Speer Goes to Hollywood is directed by Vanessa Lapa and focuses on Albert Speer, the highest-ranking Nazi in Nuremberg to be spared the death sentence, and one of Hitler’s closest confidants and his chief architect. The drama follows a diverse group of young women navigate their lives through the male-dominated world of skateboarding in New York City. Director Dario Argento (Suspiria, Inferno, Opera, Trauma) revealed in a recent interview with Repubblica (via The Film Stage) that the French electronic music duo Daft Punk are set to compose the music for his upcoming feature Black Glasses (Occhiali Neri). The movie will star Asia Argento and is being described as his return to crime films . No plot details have been announced yet.
