Premiering tonight is the HBO docu-series The Defiant Ones directed by Allen Hughes. The 4-parter tells the stories of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, their improbable partnership and their leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture and features interview with both men, as well as Bono, Trent Reznor, David Geffen, Eminem, Nas, Stevie Nicks, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani,. John Paesano is composing the music for the new CBS drama Salvation. The show is developed by Liz Kruger & Craig Shapiro (Necessary Roughness) based on a story by Matt Wheeler and stars Santiago Cabrera, Jennifer Finnigan, Charlie Rowe, Jacqueline Byers, Rachel Drance, Shazi Raja and Ian Anthony Dale. The series centers on an MIT grad student and a tech superstar, who bring a Pentagon official a staggering discovery – that an asteroid is just six months away from colliding with Earth. 
Michael Kamm is scoring Netflix’s first German original series Dark. The show is created by Baran bo Odar & Jantje Friese and stars Louis Hofmann, Oliver Masucci, Jördis Triebel, Maja Schöne, Sebastian Rudolph, Anatole Taubman, Mark Waschke, Karoline Eichhorn, Stephan Kampwirth, Anne Ratte-Polle, Andreas Pietschmann, Lisa Vicari, Angela Winkler and Michael Mendl. The 10-parter is set in a German town in present day where the disappearance of two young children exposes the double lives and fractured relationships among four families. 
Mark Isham is composing the music for BYUtv’s upcoming holiday drama Instrument of War. The film directed by 
Ryan Shore is scoring the animated mini-series Star Wars: Forces of Destiny. The series features 2-3 minute long shorts that explore fresh adventures of pivotal characters from the Star Wars universe, including Rey, Jyn Erso, Sabine Wren, Princess Leia, Ahsoka Tano and others. Felicity Jones, Daisy Ridley, Ashley Eckstein, Lupita Nyong’o are providing the voices of their respective characters in the shorts produced by Lucasfilm. The first short, entitled Sands of Jakku, premiered today on YouTube and is embedded after the jump. 
Premiering on Wednesday, July 5, is the FX original series Snowfall created by John Singleton, Eric Amadio & Dave Andron and starring Damson Idris, Sergio Peris-Mencheta, Carter Hudson and Emily Rios. The full details of the first soundtrack album for the Netflix animated series Castlevania have been revealed. The album the show’s original music composed by Emmy Award winner Trevor Morris (Immortals, Vikings, Iron Fist, Olympus/London Has Fallen, The Borgias). The animated show features the voices of James Van Der Beek, Lauren Graham, Isabella Crovetti Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Wanda Sykes, Mitchell Whitfield, Jordan Alexa Davis, ViviAnn Yee, Dee Bradley Baker, Benji Risley, Cree Summer and Ian James Corlett. The series is based on the popular children’s book series of the same title and centers around a young vampire girl who is facing the joys and trials of being the new kid in town when her family moves from Transylvania to Pennsylvania.
