Mark Kilian has been hired to score the upcoming action crime thriller Revenge of the Green Dragons. The film is directed by Andrew Lau (Infernal Affairs series, Initial D – Drift Racer) and Andrew Loo and stars Ray Liotta, Justin Chon, Harry Shum Jr., Kevin Wu and Billy Magnussen. The movie is set in New York and follows two immigrants fighting their way up the Green Dragons gang, and then their struggle to confront their former associates after one of them is cast beyond the pale for his trysts with his clan chieftain. Michael Di Jiacomo has written the film’s screenplay. Stuart Ford & Allen Bain are producing the project for IM Global, as well as Ara Katz (Diary of the Dead) and Jesse Scolaro. Martin Scorsese who directed the Academy Award-winning thriller The Departed based on Lau’s Infernal Affairs serves as an executive producer.

Terence Blanchard to Score ‘Little Rootie Tootie’
Terence Blanchard has been tapped to score the upcoming drama Little Rootie Tootie. The film is written and directed by Dan Algrant (Naked in New York, Greetings From Tim Buckley) and is set to star Christopher Walken and Lenny Kravitz. The movie follows a veteran jazz pianist who is mourning the death of his wife. His son returns home with his own wife, disrupting the couple’s careers as musicians in Europe to deal with his father as his behavior becomes manic and destructive. Algrant is producing the project with Fred Zollo (Mississippi Burning, The Paper) for A to Z Productions, along with River Bend Pictures’ Stan Erdreich and Paul Condoleon for Dalifey Ltd.
Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger & Dave Stewart Join ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Music Team
Sony Pictures announced today that Johnny Marr, Michael Einziger and Dave Stewart have joined the music team for the superhero sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Hans Zimmer and Pharrell Williams have previously been announced to score the film directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Paul Giamatti, Dane DeHaan, Denis Leary, Colm Feore, Chris Cooper, Sally Field and Felicity Jones. Johnny Marr who is best known as a co-songwriter and founding member of The Smiths has previously collaborated with Zimmer as a guitarist on Christopher Nolan’s Inception. Einziger who is the founder/guitarist/songwriter for the band Incubus has composed additional music for Zimmer’s The Lone Ranger score and Dave Stewart has worked with the composer on Dreamworks Animation’s Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted.
The Chemical Brothers to Score ‘Trespass Against Us’
The Chemical Brothers are set to compose and perform the score for the upcoming gangster drama Trespass Against Us. Adam Smith is attached to direct the project, which will mark the director’s first narrative feature. Michael Fassbender is in talks to star in the movie, which is set across three generations of the rowdy Cutler family, who live as outlaws – hunting hares, ram-raiding stately homes and taunting the police. Alastair Siddons has written the screenplay and is also producing the film with Gail Egan (Half of a Yellow Son, the upcoming A Most Wanted Man) and Andrea Calderwood (The Last King of Scotland) of Potboiler Productions. Smith has previously directed numerous episodes of TV shows including Doctor Who and Skins.
Pharrell Williams Joins Hans Zimmer to Co-score ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’
Pharrell Williams revealed in a recent interview with Billboard that he has joined composer Hans Zimmer to score the upcoming superhero film sequel The Amazing Spider-Man 2. Zimmer has previously been announced as the composer of the movie directed by Marc Webb and starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Denis Leary, Colm Feore, Chris Cooper, Sally Field, Chris Zylka, Marton Csokas and Felicity Jones. The sequel is produced by Avi Arad (X-Men, Iron Man, Hulk) and Matt Tolmach. Zimmer and Williams are taking over scoring duties on the series from James Horner who composed a widely acclaimed score for last year’s reboot. Williams has previously co-composed the Zimmer-produced score for the first Despicable Me and also contributed songs and themes for its sequel.
Marc Canham Scoring ‘Final Girl’
Marc Canham has recently scored the upcoming psychological thriller Final Girl. The film marks the directorial debut of photographer Tyler Shields and stars Abigail Breslin, Wes Bentley and Alexander Ludwig. The movie follows a teenage girl new in town who is lured into the woods by a group of senior boys to be the victim in their final initiation. Adam Prince has written the screenplaynbased on story by Steve Scarlata, Alejandro Seri and Johnny Silver. Prospect Park’s Jeff Kwatinetz and Rob Carliner (Crazy Heart, The Apostle, Assassination Tango) are producing the project for Prospect Park, alongside Jack and Joseph Nasser for Nasser Entertainment.
Lucas Vidal to Score ‘Tracers’
Lucas Vidal has been hired to score the upcoming action thriller Tracers. The film is directed by Daniel Benmayor (Bruc, The Manhunt) and stars Taylor Lautner as a New York City bike messenger who is in debt to an organized crime gang and escapes into the world of parkour after meeting a beautiful stranger. Marie Avgeropoulos and Adam Rayner are co-starring. The movie’s screenplay is written by Leslie Bohem (Dante’s Peak, Daylight), Matt Johnson (Into the Blue), Kevin Lund and T.J. Scott. Mary Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (Twilight series, Dear John, Safe Haven) are producing the project for Temple Hill Entertainment.
‘Cuban Fury’ to Feature Music by Daniel Pemberton
Daniel Pemberton has composed the score for the upcoming British comedy Cuban Fury. The film is directed by James Griffiths and stars Nick Frost, Chris O’Dowd, Olivia Colman, Rashida Jones, Ian McShane, Rory Kinnear, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Alexandra Roach. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck man who reignites his long-dormant passion for salsa dancing after falling for his gorgeous American boss. Jon Brown (Misfits, Fresh Meat) has written the screenplay. James Biddle and Nira Park (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Paul) are producing the project for Big Talk Productions. Pemberton has previously collaborated with the producers on Big Talk’s In Fear, which premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and which will open in British theaters next month. Cuban Fury is set to be released on February 14, 2014 in the UK.
Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau Scoring ‘A Many Splintered Thing’
Andrew Feltenstein and John Nau have been tapped to score the upcoming indie romantic comedy A Many Splintered Thing. The film is directed by Justin Reardon and stars Chris Evans, Michelle Monaghan, Anthony Mackie, Aubrey Plaza, Giovanni Ribisi, Topher Grace, Luke Wilson, Ashley Tisdale and Philip Baker Hall. The movie follows a young man disillusioned by love who meets an engaged woman and feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart. Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair have written the Black List screenplay. McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola are producing the project with Voltage Pictures’ Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker, The Company You Keep) & Craig Flores (Charlie Countryman).
Brian Tyler to Score ‘Fast & Furious 7’
Brian Tyler has officially signed on to score the upcoming action sequel Fast & Furious 7. The film is directed by James Wan (The Conjuring, Insidious, Saw) and stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Ludacris, Jordana Brewster and Lucas Black who all reprise their roles from the previous films in the series. They are joined by new cast members including Kurt Russell, Ronda Rousey, Djimon Hounsou and Jason Statham. No plot details have been revealed yet, but the movie is set to take place in Los Angeles for the first time since the 2000 original film. Chris Morgan (Wanted) who penned the last four installments for the franchise is writing the screenplay and Neal Moritz (21 Jump Street, I Am Legend) returns as the producer of the project.
