Dan Romer is reteaming with writer/director Joe Swanberg (Drinking Buddies, Happy Christmas) on the upcoming indie comedy Win It All. The film starring Jake Johnson, Aislinn Derbez, Joe Lo Truglio and Keegan-Michael Key revolves around a small time gambler who agrees to watch a duffel bag for an acquaintance who is heading to prison and discovers cash in the bag. Swanberg and Johnson also co-wrote the screenplay and are producing the project with Alex Orr (Easy). Romer has previously scored Swanberg’s last feature Digging for Fire and also wrote music for his Netflix original series Easy.

Pixar’s ‘Lou’ to Feature Music by Christophe Beck
Christophe Beck has composed the music for Pixar Animation Studios’ upcoming animated short Lou. The film marks the directorial debut of Dave Mullins who worked as an animator on projects including Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Up and Cars 2. The movie revolves around a lost-and-found box and the unseen monster within. Dana Murray is producing the short and Pete Docter (Up, Inside Out) & John Lasseter (Toy Story) serve as executive producers. The project marks Beck’s first project for Pixar.
David Newman Scoring Malcolm D. Lee’s ‘Girls Trip’
David Newman has recently recorded his score for the upcoming comedy Girls Trip. The film is directed by Malcolm D. Lee (The Best Man, The Best Man Holiday, Undercover Brother) and stars Regina Hall, Jada Pinkett Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Larenz Tate, Kate Walsh, Mike Colter and Queen Latifah. The movie follows four lifelong friends as they travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival. Kenya Barris & Tracy Oliver (Barbershop: The Next Cut) wrote the screenplay. Will Packer (Ride Along, Think Like a Man, The Wedding Ringer) is producing the project with Lee.
Rob to Score Coralie Fargeat’s ‘Revenge’
Rob (aka Robin Coudert) is set to compose the music for the upcoming thriller Revenge. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Coralie Fargeat and stars Matilda Lutz, Kevin Janssens, Vincent Colombe and Guillaume Bouchède. The movie revolves around a woman seeking revenge after being abused by three men and left for dead in the desert. Marc-Etienne Schwartz is producing the project, which is being filmed in English and French, for M.E.S. Prods., alongside Marc Stanimirovic (Kaamelott) for Monkey Pack Films.
Mark Mothersbaugh to Score ‘The LEGO Ninjago Movie’
Mark Mothersbaugh has signed on to score the upcoming animated feature The LEGO Ninjago Movie. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Charlie Bean (Tron: Uprising) and features the voices of Dave Franco, Justin Theroux, Fred Armisen, Abbi Jacobson, Olivia Munn, Kumail Nanjiani, Michael Peña, Zach Woods and Jackie Chan. Hilary Winston & Bob Logan & Paul Fisher wrote the screenplay based on a story by themselves and Kevin Hageman & Dan Hageman. Dan Lin (Sherlock Holmes, Gangster Squad), Phil Lord & Christopher Miller (21/22 Jump Street), Roy Lee (The Strangers, The Exorcist) and Maryann Garger (Astro Boy) are producing the project.
Alex Heffes Scoring Peter Webber’s & Richard Dale’s ‘Earth: One Amazing Day’
Alex Heffes is reteaming with director Peter Webber on the upcoming documentary Earth: One Amazing Day. The film directed by Webber (The Girl With The Pearl Earring, Hannibal Rising) & Richard Dale (The Human Body) is the sequel to 2007’s hit movie Earth (scored by George Fenton) and tells the story of one day in the life of the planet, “celebrating the billions of real-life dramas that occur in the natural world every day”. Robert Redford is narrating the English-langue version of the film, while Jackie Chan will narrate the Mandarin version.
Jeff Russo to Score Craig William Macneill’s ‘Lizzie’
Jeff Russo is currently scoring the upcoming psychological thriller Lizzie. The film is directed by Craig William Macneill (The Boy) and stars Kristen Stewart, Chloe Sevigny, Kim Dickens, Denis O’Hare, Fiona Shaw, Jamey Sheridan and Jeff Perry. The movie tells the story surrounding the infamous murder trial of convicted axe killer Elizabeth Borden who was eventually acquitted for the 1892 murder her father and stepmother in Fall Rivers, MA. Bryce Kass wrote the screenplay. Naomi Despres (Kill the Messenger) and Elizabeth Destro (Life of Crime) are producing the project. Russo previously collaborated with Macneill on the Syfy original series Channel Zero.
Dino Meneghin to Score Taran Killam’s ‘Why We’re Killing Gunther’
Dino Meneghin has been hired to score the upcoming action comedy Why We’re Killing Gunther. The film marks the directorial debut of actor Taran Killam and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bobby Moynihan, Cobie Smulders, Paul Brittain, Hannah Simone and Ryan Gaul. Killam also wrote the screenplay and appears in the movie, which follows a group of eccentric assassins who are fed up with Gunther, the world’s greatest hit-man and decide to kill him. He is also producing the project with Kim Leadford, Ash Sarohia and Steve Squillante (13 Sins).
Evan Lurie Scoring Stanley Tucci’s ‘Final Portrait’
Evan Lurie is reteaming with actor/director Stanley Tucci on the upcoming drama Final Portrait. The film is written and directed by Tucci and stars Geoffrey Rush, Armie Hammer, Clémence Poésy, Tony Shalhoub, James Faulkner and Sylvie Testud. The movie is based on James Lord’s book A Giacometti Portrait and centers on Swiss painter-sculptor Alberto Giacometti who died in 1966 and is best remembered for his stark and surrealistic sculptures. Gail Egan (A Most Wanted Man, A Little Chaos, Our Kind of Traitor), Nik Bower and Ilann Girard (Lebanon) are producing the project.
Stephen Warbeck Scoring Joel Hopkins’ ‘Hampstead’
Stephen Warbeck has recently recorded his score for the upcoming British drama Hampstead. The film is directed by Joel Hopkins (Last Chance Harvey, Jump Tomorrow) and stars Diane Keaton, Brendan Gleeson and James Norton. The movie centers on an American widow who finds unexpected love with a man living wild on Hampstead Heath when they take on the developers who want to destroy his home. Robert Festinger (In the Bedroom, Trust) wrote the screenplay. Robert Bernstein and Douglas Rae (Nowhere Boy, Becoming Jane, Black Death, The Water Horse) are producing the project for Ecosse Films.
