Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British TV series Home Fires starring Samantha Bond, Francesca Annis, Ed Stoppard, Ruth Gemmell, Claire Rushbrook, Frances Grey, Clare Calbraith and Rachel Hurd-Wood. The show’s original music is composed by Samuel Sim (Awake). Home Fires based on the book Jambusters by Julie Summers is set during World War II and follows a group of inspirational women in a rural Cheshire community. Also premiering tonight on PBS is the British mini-series The Widower created by Jeff Pope & Jim Barton, directed by Paul Whittington and starring Reece Shearsmith, Kate Fleetwood, Archie Panjabi, Sheridan Smith and John Hannah. Niall Byrne (Cairo Time) has composed the three-parter’s original music. The Widower tells the true story of Malcolm Webster, a man who marries and kills a succession of women. Premiering on Wednesday is the Hulu original series Casual created by Zander Lehmann, produced by Jason Reitman and starring Tommy Dewey, Michaela Watkins and Tara Lynn Barr. The show’s original music is composed by Mateo Messina (Fairly Legal, Growing Up Fisher, Crossbones, Truth Be Told) who previously scored Reitman’s Juno and also contributed music to most of his other films. Premiering on Friday, October 9, is the British mini-series The Enfield Haunting written by Joshua St. Johnson, directed by Kristoffer Nyholm and starring Timothy Spall, Juliet Stevenson and Matthew Macfadyen. Benjamin Wallfisch (Dear Wendy, The Escapist, Summer in February, Desert Dancer) has composed the show’s original music. Also premiering on Friday is the Disney Channel original movie Invisible Sister directed by Paul Hoen and starring Rowan Blanchard, Paris Berelc, Karan Brar, Rachel Crow, Will Meyers, Austin Fryberger and Alex Désert. The film’s original music is composed by Deborah Lurie (Dear John, An Unfinished Life, 9, Safe Haven, The Astronaut’s Wives Club). Invisible Sister follows an introverted science prodigy whose class project accidentally turns her popular older sister aka the school’s lacrosse star invisible. Also premiering on Friday is DreamWorks Animation’s new series The Mr. Peabody & Sherman Show based on last year’s feature and featuring the voices of Chris Parnell and Max Charles. The show’s original music is composed by The Outfit. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring selections from the series’ original music, including tracks by Jukebox the Ghost, JD McPherson, Wordsworth and Prince Paul and Ra Ra Riot.
