John Debney revealed in a new interview with Soundtrax that has recently scored the pilot for the Amazon Studios mystery drama The After. The project is created by Chris Carter and stars Sharon Lawrence, Jamie Kennedy, Aldis Hodge, Andrew Howard, Jaina Lee Ortiz, Adrian Pasdar, Arielle Kebbel and Louise Monot. The drama follows eight strangers who are thrown together by mysterious forces and must help each other survive in a violent world that defies explanation. Carter has also directed the pilot episode and is executive producing the project with Marc Rosen of Georgeville Television. He has previously collaborated with Mark Snow on such shows as The X-Files, Millennium and The Lone Gunmen. The After will premiere as part of Amazon Studios’ second pilot season later this year and viewers will get to decide whether they want a full season. Check out a first look trailer on Entertainment Weekly.
The composer’s other upcoming projects include Ivan Reitman’s Draft Day starring Kevin Costner, the animated feature SpongeBob SquarePants 2, the psychological thriller Eliza Graves starring Kate Beckinsale, the comedy starring Elizabeth Banks and the dramatic thriller Broken Horses starring Anton Yelchin.
Snow also scored Carter’s one other TV series, “Harsh Realm”.
So what were “The Lone Gunmen” and “Millennium” (both of which Snow also scored), murals?
Do you mean what were the shows about?
“The Lone Gunmen” was a spin-off series from “The X-Files”, that features the three characters Langly, Byers, and Frohike — the three nerds Mulder and Scully would turn to for help sometimes. over the course of years, until they got their own show, which was then cancelled.
“MillenniuM”, set in the same universe as “The X-Files” (indeed, Mulder and Scully have a crossover episode), centers around F.B.I. agent Frank Black (Lance Hendrickson, a defining role for him) that has disturbing visions that are ruining his life and his family life but help solve crimes. Interrwomen are his dealings with the mysterious (real life group, but exaggerated for the show) Millennium Group (Academy Group in real life), who believe the world is ending in 2000 and that they must do what ever they can to prevent that, even going for the blood of Christ and murdering anybody who would stand in their way. The show was great during the first season, went down hill the second, and the final season is widely considered terrible; basically, FOX ruined a good show.
I know what the shows were about. What I meant is that “The X-Files” and “Harsh Realm” weren’t the only shows Snow did for Carter…
The article pointed out the shows he scored for Carter, I pointed out the missing one.
Hence, “Snow also scored”. Maybe you got confused.
Or maybe it was reedited, or maybe I didn’t notice, or whatever. Let’s just forget it and move on.
