HBO announced today that Hans Zimmer (The Lion KingDune,  InterstellarThe Dark KnightAs Good As It GetsInceptionGladiatorPirates of the CaribbeanMan of Steel, Rain Man) and Bleeding Fingers will compose the score for the upcoming HBO original Harry Potter series. Zimmer will be collaborating with his Bleeding Fingers Music team, including including composers Kara Talve (The Tattooist of Auschwitz, Faraway Downs) & Anže Rozman  (Prehistoric PlanetBeckhamUniverse) to score the show written by Francesca Gardiner (His Dark Materials) based on J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novels and starring Dominic McLaughlin, Alastair Stout, Arabella Stanton, John Lithgow, Paapa Essiedu, Janet McTeer and Nick Frost. Gardiner & Rowling are also executive producing the Brontë Film and TV and Warner Bros. Television production with Neil Blair & Ruth Kenley-Letts (Mrs. Wilson, C.B. Strike), Heyday Films’ David Heyman (Harry Potter feature series, Gravity), as well as Mark Mylod (Succession, The Menu) who is also directing multiple episodes. The Harry Potter TV series will premiere in 2027 on HBO and HBO Max.

    I don’t know if that’s a good idea. Hans composing for the series would be terribly difficult to handle while watching the remake show. Someone should do the music for the show. He/she can stay true to John Williams.
