Max Aruj (CrawlThe Ice RoadiBoy, The Tank, Mech CadetsLansky) and Alfie Godfrey (Marching Powder, A Town Called MaliceHorsepower) have recently been scoring Christopher McQuarrie’s upcoming action sequel Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Cecile Tournesac serves as the score producer for the film directed by McQuarrie and starring Tom Cruise, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Henry Czerny, Holt McCallany, Mariela Garriga, Janet McTeer, Nick Offerman, Tramell Tillman, Hannah Waddingham, Shea Whigham, Charles Parnell, Greg Tarzan Davis, Mark Gatiss, Rolf Saxon, Lucy Tulugarjuk and Angela Bassett. McQuarrie also co-wrote the screenplay with Erik Jendresen (Ithaka) and is also producing the project with Cruise. Lorne Balfe who previously scored the last two installments in the series, Mission: Impossible: Fallout & Dead Reckoning Part One, was originally expected to compose the music for the eighth installment in the Mission series. Aruj has previously provided additional music for Dead Reckoning Part One and served as technical score assistant on Fallout. Both Aruj & Godfrey have contributed music to numerous projects scored by Balfe over the last couple of years. Tournesac was credited as the supervising music editor and score producer (with Balfe) on the first Dead Reckoning movie. Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning will be released in theaters nationwide on May 23 by Paramount Pictures.

The hell? What’s with all these “but actually” announcements lately? Happy for these guys and I wish them all well but it is really weird

  2. liamdude5 says:

I need to know what Lorne Balfe is working on right now to do this swap.

    • SomeGuy says:

I heard from a friend that the film kept changing and he was being asked to constantly rewrite things. Sounds like he got fed up, and walked away.

      • Michael says:

Balfe will be supervising since they are his team so sure there will be music continuity

  3. Dylan E. says:

Well, I’m glad different composers were chosen for this outing.

I know everyone praised it, but I think Dead Reckoning has the weakest score of the film series.
