Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,Steve Jobs, The Trial of the Chicago 7, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Birds of Prey, Enola Holmes) has been tapped to score the upcoming documentary The Rescue. The film is directed by Academy Award winners E. Chai Vasarhelyi & Jimmy Chin (Free Solo, Meru) and details the headline-making rescue of a Thai soccer team trapped in a cave for 16 days. The movie centers on the key figures who put their lives at risk for what appeared to be a lost cause. Vasarhelyi and Chin are also producing the National Geographic production with P.J. van Sandwijk (Locked Down) and John Battsek (Studio 54, Citizen K). Pemberton has previously scored last year’s Battsek-produced documentary Rising Phoenix. The Rescue will premiere next month at the 2021 Toronto Film Festival.
As previously reported, Pemberton also has DreamWorks Animation’s The Bad Guys (to be released on April 15, 2022), as well as the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel (coming out on October 7, 2022) coming up.
