Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the faith-based drama I Still Believe directed by Jon & Andrew Erwin and also stars KJ Apa, Britt Robertson, Shania Twain and Gary Sinise. The film’s original score is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Elf, Iron Man 2, Hocus Pocus). Capitol Records has released a soundtrack album featuring five tracks from the composer’s score, as well as the Jeremy Camp songs from the movie performed by Apa, as well as other tracks by Apa. Also opening wide is the thriller The Hunt directed by Craig Zobel and starring Betty Gilpin, Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts, Hilary Swank, Glenn Howerton, Amy Madigan and Ethan Suplee. Nathan Barr (True Blood, The House with a Clock in Its Walls, Hostel, The Americans, Cabin Fever, Carnival Row) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening nationwide is the action adventure Bloodshot directed by David S. F. Wilson and starring Vin Diesel, Eiza Gonzalez, Sam Heughan, Toby Kebbell and Guy Pearce. The film’s original music is composed by Steve Jablonsky (Transformers, Ender’s Game, The Island, Lone Survivor, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows, Deepwater Horizon) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in limited release is the indie drama Never Rarely Sometimes Always written and directed by Eliza Hittman and starring Sidney Flanigan, Talia Ryder, Théodore Pellerin, Ryan Eggold and Sharon Van Etten. Singer/songwriter Julia Holter (Bleed for This, Pure) has composed the film’s original music. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring Holter’s score. Also opening in limited release is the drama The Roads Not Taken written and directed by Sally Potter and starring Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Branka Katić, Milena Tscharntke, Laura Linney and Salma Hayek. Potter (Orlando, The Tango Lesson ,Yes) has also composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the director’s score. Opening in select theaters today is the comedy Big Time Adolescence written and directed by Jason Orley in his directorial debut. It stars Pete Davidson, Griffin Gluck, Emily Arlook, Colson Baker, Sydney Sweeney and Jon Cryer. The film’s original music is composed by Zachary Dawes (The Peanut Butter Falon) and Nick Sena (Deep Murder). No word yet on a soundtrack album. The movie, which revolves around a suburban teenager who comes of age under the destructive guidance of an aimless college dropout, premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, will also be available to stream on Hulu next Friday, March 20.
Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the Australian sports drama Ride Like a Girl directed by Rachel Griffiths and starring Teresa Palmer, Sam Neill, Sullivan Stapleton, Genevieve Morris, Sophia Forrest, Brooke Satchwell and Anneliese Apps. David Hirschfelder (Shine, Elizabeth, Australia, The Railway Man, Legends of the Guardians) has composed the film’s original music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released last fall when the movie opened in Australia. Another limited release this week is the drama Lost Transmissions written and directed by Katharine O’Brien and stars Simon Pegg, Juno Temple, Jamie Harris, Rebecca Hazlewood, Tao Okamoto, Bria Vinaite and Alexandra Daddario. The film’s original music is composed by Hugo Nicolson. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score, as well as the song Goodnight Not Goodbye by IO Echo. Opening in select theaters and on Netflix today is the drama Lost Girls directed by Liz Garbus and starring Amy Ryan, Thomasin McKenzie, Kirke, Oona Laurence, Gabriel Byrne and Miriam Shor. The film’s original score is composed by Anne Nikitin (American Animals, Mrs. Wilson, The Imposter, Calibre, This Beautiful Fantastic).
