Two new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the adventure drama The Call of the Wild directed by Chris Sanders and starring Harrison Ford, Dan Stevens, Omar Sy, Karen Gillan, Bradley Whitford and Colin Woodel. The film’s original music is composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, The Bourne Identity, Shrek, Solo: A Star Wars Story, Happy Feet). Hollywood Records/Fox Music have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the supernatural horror movie Brahms: The Boy II directed by William Brent Bell and starring Katie Holmes, Owain Yeoman, Christopher Convery and Ralph Ineson. Brett Detar (The Devil Inside, Wer) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s next Friday, February 28. Opening in limited release is the the comedy Emma directed by Autumn de Wilde and starring Anya Taylor-Joy, Johnny Flynn, Bill Nighy, Mia Goth, Miranda Hart, Josh O’Connor, Callum Turner, Rupert Graves, Gemma Whelan, Amber Anderson, Tanya Reynolds and Connor Swindells. The film’s original music is composed by Isobel Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Vanity Fair, The Split, Vita and Virginia) & David Schweitzer (Bob the Builder), as well as the songs featured in the movie. Also opening in limited release is the comedy drama Standing Up, Falling Down directed by Matt Ratner and starring Billy Crystal, Ben Schwartz, Eloise Mumford, Grace Gummer, Nate Corddry, Jill Hennessy, Caitlin McGee, David Castañeda, Debra Monk and Kevin Dunn. David Schwartz (Arrested Development, Northern Exposure, Veep, Lady Dynamite) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been released. Also opening in select cities is the thriller The Night Clerk written and directed by Michael Cristofer and starring Tye Sheridan, Ana de Armas, John Leguizamo and Helen Hunt. Erik Hall has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a young, socially challenged hotel clerk who witnesses a murder in one of the rooms but his suspicious actions land him as the lead detective’s number one suspect, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Saban Films.
Also opening in select theaters is the coming-of-age drama Goldie written and directed by Sam de Jong and starring Slick Woods, George Sample III, Danny Hoch, Khris Davis, Marsha Stephanie Blake and A$AP Ferg. The film’s original music is composed by Nathan Halpern (The Rider, Minding the Gap, Rich Hill, Swallow). Copticon Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score.
