Four new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the supernatural thriller Doctor Sleep directed by Mike Flanagan and starring Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Jacob Tremblay, Zahn McClarnon, Bruce Greenwood, Carel Struycken and Emily Alyn Lind. The film’s original music is composed by The Newton Brothers (The Haunting of Hill HouseOuija: Origin of EvilOculus, Life of Crime). Also opening wide is the World War II drama Midway directed by Roland Emmerich and starring Ed Skrein, Patrick Wilson, Luke Evans, Nick Jonas, Tadanobu Asano, Luke Kleintank, Darren Criss, Mandy Moore, Dennis Quaid and Woody Harrelson. Also opening nationwide is the romantic comedy Last Christmas directed by Paul Feig and starring Emilia Clarke, Henry Golding, Michelle Yeoh and Emma Thompson. The film’s original score is composed by Theodore Shapiro (Ghostbusters, The Devil Wears Prada, Marley & Me, Spy, Bombshell). Sony Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the Wham! and George Michael songs from the movie, including a previously unreleased song performed by Michael. The final wide release this week is the comedy Playing with Fire directed by Andy Fickman and starring John Cena, Keegan-Michael Key, John Leguizamo, Judy Greer, Brianna Hildebrand, Christian Convery, Finley Rose Slater and Tyler Mane. Nathan Wang (She’s All ThatThe Game PlanYou Again) has composed the film’s original score. Paramount Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. Opening in limited release is the indie drama Honey Boy directed by Alma Har’el and starring Shia LaBeouf, Noah Jupe, Lucas Hedges and FKA twigs. The film’s original music is composed by Alex Somers (Captain Fantastic, AlohaManhattanDawson City: Frozen Time). KRONK has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Already playing in select theaters since this past Wednesday before premiering on Netflix next month is the drama Marriage Story written and directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, Laura Dern, Merritt Wever, Azhy Robertson, Alan Alda and Kyle Bornheimer. Randy Newman (Toy StoryMonsters, Inc.A Bug’s LifeAvalonParenthood) has composed the film’s original music. Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in limited release is the documentary The Kingmaker directed by Lauren Greenfield about Filipino politician and former First Lady Imelda Marcos. The film’s original music is composed by Jocelyn Pook (Eyes Wide ShutThe WifeThe Merchant of VeniceBrick Lane). No word yet on a soundtrack release. Also opening in select theaters is the action drama Primal directed by Nick Powell and starring Nicolas Cage, Famke Janssen, Kevin Durand, LaMonica Garrett and Michael Imperioli. Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to KillHappy!The Man with the Iron HeartIt BoyRansom) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced. Also opening in select cities is the Australian war drama Danger Close directed by Kriv Stenders and starring Travis Fimmel, Luke Bracey, Richard Roxburgh, Anthony Hayes, Alexander England, Nicholas Hamilton and Myles Pollard. The film’s original music is composed by Caitlin Yeo (The RocketThe Butterfly Tree). Another limited release this week is the documentary 16 Bars directed by Samuel Bathrick about a rehabilitation effort in a Virginia jail that invites inmates to write and record music and collaborate on an album with Todd “Speech” Thomas. Artistically Premium Entertainment LLC and Lightyear Entertainment have released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie by Teddy Kane, Garland Carr, Anthony Johnston and Devonte James. Also opening in select theaters before premiering on Netflix next week is the animated feature Klaus directed by Sergio Pablos and starring Jason Schwartzman, J.K. Simmons, Rashida Jones, Joan Cusack, Will Sasso and Norm Macdonald. Alfonso Gonzalez Aguilar (Perdida, You Shall Not Sleep) has composed the film’s original score.
