Earlier this month, Alex Heffes has recorded his score for the upcoming British family drama Hope Gap. The film is written and directed by William Nicholson (screenwriter of Gladiator, Les Miserables, Shadowlands & Unbroken) and stars Annette Bening, Bill Nighy and Josh O’Connor. The movie charts the unraveling of a marriage after 29 years and the impact on a family unit. David M Thompson (Woman in Gold, The Sense of an Ending) is producing the project for Origin Pictures, alongside Sarada McDermott. Heffes (The Last King of Scotland, Roots, 11.21.63) has previously scored the features Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom and The First Grader for Thompson & Origin Pictures. Hope Gap is expected to premiere in 2019.
Also coming up for Heffes is Catherine Hardwicke’s Miss Bala starring Gina Rodriguez (to be released in theaters nationwide on February 1). The composer also scored the documentary The Elephant Queen, which will premiere in January at the Sundance Film Festival and has been picked up by Apple for worldwide distribution.
