Mica Levi has composed the music for Jonathan Glazer’s upcoming sci-fi thriller Under the Skin. The film is based on a novel by Michael Faber (The Crimson Petal and the White) and stars Scarlett Johannson as an alien disguised as a mesmerizing woman who scours remote highways and backroads for human prey. Glazer has co-written the screenplay with Walter Campbell and James Wilson (Attack the Block) and Nick Wechsler (Magic Mike, The Player, The Road) are producing the project. The thriller marks the film scoring debut of Levi aka Micachu who is best known for her experimental pop music band Micachu and the Shapes. She has previously composed an orchestral piece for the London Philharmonic Orchestra which was performed at the Royal Festival Hall in 2008. Glazer’s previous two features were scored by Alexandre Desplat (Birth) and Roque Banos (Sexy Beast). Under the Skin is set to premiere later this month at the Venice Film Festival and will also be shown next month at the Toronto International Film Festival. (via The Playlist)
