Jim Williams (Possessor, Beast, Resurrection, House of Spoils, A Field in EnglandSightseers) has recently scored the upcoming French drama Alpha. The film is written and directed by Julia Ducournau and stars Golshifteh Farahani, Tahar Rahim, Mélissa Boros, Emma Mackey, Finnegan Oldfield and Louai El Amrousy. The movie revolves around a troubled 13-year-old girl who lives with her single mom and whose world collapses the day she returns from school with a tattoo on her arm. Jean des Forêts & Amelie Jacquis (Monsieur Aznavour) are producing the project for Petit Film, alongside Eric & Nicolas Altmayer (In the House, By the Grace of God) for Mandarin & Compagnie. Williams has previously scored Ducournau’s last two features, Titane and Raw. Alpha will premiere tomorrow at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival and is scheduled to open in French theaters on August 20 before being released in U.S. theaters this fall by Neon.
