Nicholas Hooper has scored the Working Title Television two part serial Birdsong. The mini-series directed by Philip Martin (Prime Suspect 7: The Final Act) based on the bestselling novel by Sebastian Faulks (Charlotte Gray) has been adapted for the screen by Abi Morgan (The Iron Lady, Shame). The movie set against the First World War tells the story of a soldier who finds himself fighting in the area where he had an illicit affair before the war. The cast includes Eddie Redmayne and Clemence Poesy. Lynn Horsford (Boy A) is producing the project. The two-part film premiered on BBC over the last two weeks. No word yet on when it will be shown in the US. For more information about Birdsong, visit BBC’s official website.
Hooper who is best known as the composer of the fifth and sixth Harry Potter movies also has the Disneynature documentary Chimpanzee coming up this spring. The composer’s other upcoming project, Stella Days has recently been picked by Tribeca Films for U.S. distribution. The movie starring Martin Sheen is set to premiere at the Dublin Film Festival and will be released in Ireland on March 9, 2012.
Birdsong is going to be on Masterpiece Theatre early this year, either in April or May.
I love how confirm that the Harry Potter composers keep scoring the first proyects of the HP film after Deathly Hallows. Like John Williams scoring War Horse with David Thewlis, Patrick Doyle scoring Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes with Tom Felton.
Alexandre Desplat writing the main theme of My Week With Marilyn with Emma Watson, Kenneth Branagh, and Geraldine Somerville. And now, Nicholas Hooper scoring Birdsong, which it has Clemence Poesy.
Sorry. I mean, they keep scoring the first proyects of the Harry Potter cast after Deathly Hallows.
The theme music from the movie Birdsong is so serene, I’d love to get it, or hope it gets released.
