Cliff Martinez is currently scoring the indie drama Arbitrage. The movie is directed by Nicholas Jarecki and stars Richard Gere as a troubled hedge fund magnate who is forced to turn to an unlikely ally when he makes an error. Tim Roth, Susan Sarandon, Laetitia Casta, Brit Marling and Josh Pais are co-starring in the drama produced by Laura Bickford (Duplicity), Robert Salerno (21 Grams), Kevin Turen (An American Crime) and Justin Nappi. Bickford has previously produced the Martinez-scored drama Traffic. No word yet on whether any music by J. Ralph who was originally announced as the composer of Arbitrage will remain in the movie. No release date has been set yet, but an opening in 2012 is targeted.
Martinez who has recently scored Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion and Nicolas Winding-Refn’s Drive also mentioned in a recent interview with 123 Film that he also expects to reunite with the Drive director on his next film Only God Forgives. The movie starring Ryan Gosling and Kristin Scott Thomas is set in the worlds of gambling, boxing and prostitution in Bangkok. The film tells a revenge story centering on a Thai cop and a British gangster hiding in Thailand. Principal shooting is expected to begin later this year.
