Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the family comedy Dolittle directed by Stephen Gaghan and starring Robert Downey Jr., Antonio Banderas, Michael Sheen, Jim Broadbent, Jessie Buckley, John Cena, Harry Collett, Rami Malek, Kumail Nanjiani and Octavia Spencer. The film’s original music is composed by Danny Elfman (BatmanSpider-ManAlice in Wonderland). Also opening wide is the action comedy Bad Boys for Life directed by Adil El Arbi & Bilall Fallah and stars Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Nunez and Joe Pantoliano. Lorne Balfe (Mission: Impossible – Fallout, The LEGO Batman Movie, His Dark Materials, Genius) has composed the film’s original score. Epic Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie (click here for the full details). A score album is set to be released next Friday, January 24.

Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the Japanese animated feature Weathering with You directed by Makoto Shinkai and produced by Genki Kawamura. The film’s original music is composed by the Japanese rock band Radwimps (Your Name). A soundtrack album featuring the band’s score was released last summer when the movie opened in Japan. Opening in limited release is the action thriller Disturbing the Peace directed by York Alec Shackleton and starring Guy Pearce, Devon Sawa, Kelly Greyson, Michael Sirow, Barbie Blank, Jacob Grodnik, Michael Bellisario, Dwayne Cameron, Elle E. Wallace and Jay Willick. Michael Thomas has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a small-town marshal who as he battles with a gang of outlaw bikers, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Momentum Pictures.

Also opening in limited release is the thriller Intrigo: Death of an Author directed by Daniel Alfredson and starring Ben Kingsley, Benno Fürmann and Tuva Novotny. The film’s original music is composed by Anders Niska & Klas Wahl (Swedish Dicks, Farang) who have also scored the other Intrigo movies. No soundtrack album has been announced. The movie, which is based on the best-seller by Hakan Nesser, is being released in theaters and on VOD by Lionsgate.
