Alan Silvestri has signed on to score the upcoming fantasy adventure The Witches. The film is directed by Robert Zemeckis and stars Anne Hathaway, Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci, Chris Rock, Jahzir Kadeem Bruno and Codie-Lei Eastick. The movie is based on Roald Dahl classic book and tells the story of a young orphaned boy who, in late 1967, goes to live with his loving Grandmain the rural Alabama town of Demopolis, where they come across some deceptively glamorous but thoroughly diabolical witches. Zemeckis also wrote the screenplay with Kenya Barris (Black-ish, Shaft) and Guillermo Del Toro (The Shape of Water, Pan’s Labyrinth). He is also producing the project with Del Toro, Jack Rapke, Alfonso Cuaron (Gravity, Children of Men) and Luke Kelly. Silvestri has previously scored all of Zemeckis’ features over the last 35 years, including Back to the Future, Forrest Gump, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Cast Away and The Polar Express. The Witches is set to be released on October 16, 2020 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Silvestri also has the second season of Fox’s docu-series Cosmos coming up.
Is there any news of a score release. I hope it’s coming. I love the Silvestri – Zemeckis scores.
It would be a shame to not release an album now that the movie will be released on HBO Max. Hope it will be announced soon!
