Three new movies are opening in theaters nationwide this week:

Opening in most theaters is the horror thriller The Curse of La Llorona directed by Michael Chaves and starring Linda Cardellini, Patricia Velasquez and Raymond Cruz. The film’s original music is composed by Joseph Bishara (The ConjuringAnnabelleInsidiousThe Prodigy). WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. Already playing in theaters since Wednesday is the faith-based drama Breakthrough directed by Roxann Dawson and starring Chrissy Metz, Josh Lucas, Topher Grace, Mike Colter, Sam Trammell, Marcel Ruiz and Dennis Haysbert. Marcelo Zarvos (FencesWonderThe AffairThe Good Shepherd) has composed the film’s original score. Fox Music has released as soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score (click here for more details). Mercury Nashville has released a separate album featuring the songs from & inspired by the movie, including an original track written by Diane Warren and performed by Metz (click here for more information).

Also opening nationwide this week is the Disneynature documentary Penguins directed by Alastair Fothergill & Jeff Wilson and narrated by Ed Helms. The film’s original music is composed by Harry Gregson-Williams (The Chronicles of NarniaThe MartianShrekMan on FireKingdom of HeavenThe Meg). Opening in limited release is the supernatural drama Fast Color co-written and directed by Julia Hart and starring Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Lorraine Toussaint, Saniyya Sidney, Christopher Denham and David Strathairn. Rob Simonsen (Love, SimonNerve(500) Days of SummerFoxcatcherThe Spectacular NowThe Upside) has composed the film’s original music. Miles of Lions Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. Also opening in limited release before premiering on VOD next Tuesday is the thriller Under the Silver Lake written and directed by David Robert Mitchell and starring Andrew Garfield and Riley Keough. The film’s original music is composed by Disasterpeace (aka Rich Vreeland) (It Follows, Triple Frontier). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as songs by R.E.M., Meek Bride & Her Band and The Association. Also opening in select theaters is the thriller Little Woods written and directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Tessa Thompson, Lily James, Luke Kirby, James Badge Dale and Lance Reddick. Brian McOmber (It Comes at NightKrishaUgly) & Malcolm Parson have composed the film’s original music. Also opening in select cities is the comedy Drunk Parents co-written and directed by Fred Wolf and starring Alec Baldwin, Salma Hayek, Jim Gaffigan, Joe Manganiello, Ben Platt, Michelle Veintimilla and Aasif Mandvi. The film’s original music is composed by Andrew Feltenstein & John Nau (Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues, The House, Bachelorette, The Bronze). No word on a soundtrack release. The comedy, which follows two drunk parents as they attempt to hide their ever increasing financial difficulties from their daughter, is being released in theaters by Vertical Entertainment following its debut on DirecTV last month.

Also opening in limited release is the documentary Hail Satan? directed by Penny Lane about the The Satanic Temple, a mysterious organization led by Lucien Greaves. Brian McOmber has composed the film’s original score. Wayfind Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score written by the composer featuring Angel Deradoorian and Jordan Dykstra. Another limited release this week is the British thriller Red Joan directed by Trevor Nunn and starring Judi Dench, Sophie Cookson, Stephen Campbell Moore and Tom Hughes. The film’s original music is composed by George Fenton (Groundhog DayDangerous LiaisonsHitchYou’ve Got Mail). No soundtrack album has been announced yet. Also opening in select theaters is the indie comedy Family written and directed by Laura Steinel and starring Taylor Schilling, Bryn Vale, Brian Tyree Henry, Jessie Ennis, Blair Beeken, Matt Walsh, Allison Tolman, Eric Edelstein, Kate McKinnon and Fabrizio Guido. Jeremy Turner (Five Came BackTrophyA Birder’s Guide to Everything) has composed the film’s original score. No word yet on a soundtrack release. Also opening in limited release is the documentary Be Natural: The Untold Story of Alice Guy-Blache directed by Pamela B. Green, narrated by Jodie Foster about the the life and accomplishments of the world’s first female filmmaker. The film’s original music is composed by  Peter G. Adams (A Violent ManSoaked in Bleach).
