Mario Grigorov has signed on to score the upcoming action adventure Tarzan. The film is directed by David Yates (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and stars Alexander Skarsgård in the title role, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Margot Robbie, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt and Christoph Waltz. The movie based on the classic story and characters created by Edgar Rice Burroughs takes place years after Tarzan left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke and is invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge. Jerry Weintraub (Behind the Candelabra, The Karate Kid, the Ocean’s trilogy) is producing the Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures production with David Barron (Harry Potter series, Cinderella, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit). Grigorov’s best known previous film scoring credits include Lee Daniels’ Precious, The Paperboy and Shadowboxer. Tarzan is set to be released on July 1, 2016.
