Hans Zimmer revealed in an interview with Comic Book Resource that he will be collaborating with Junkie XL on Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The composer mentioned that Junkie XL aka Tom Holkenborg will be providing music for the Batman character, while he will take care of Clark Kent/Superman. Zimmer previously scored Snyder’s Man of Steel. Junkie XL composed additional music for Man of Steel and also worked with Snyder on 300: Rise of an Empire. Zimmer had previously expressed hesitation to score another Batman movie when he was first asked about the project given his involvement with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy. Batman v Superman starring Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Diane Lane, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeremy Irons and Holly Hunter is set to be released on March 25, 2016 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Zimmer’s latest project Interstellar is set to be released later this week. Junkie XL has recently scored George Miller’s Mad Max: Fury Road, which will be coming out on May 15, 2015.
I laughed on the second I read the title of the news.
But, seriously, I was expecting this. Zimmer wouldn’t score Batman again, and he loves to collaborate with others. Well, Junkie XL is better than the Balfes we were fearing, but I miss the times when his partner was James Newton Howard.
Poor us!
so expect the soundtrack to be even more bludgening than Man Of Steel… god help us all
